Complications
- Postinfectious encephalitis (1/5,000 cases)
- Thrombocytopenic purpura (1/3,000 cases)
- CRS: Incidence dependent on trimester exposed
- Rubella vaccine may rarely cause encephalitis or idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP):
- ITP is self-limited and is not a contraindication to the vaccine.
