Etiology

  • Pancoast tumor (lung cancer)
  • Neck trauma or tumor
  • Lung abscess or tuberculoma
  • Internal carotid dissection
  • Brainstem infarct (Wallenberg or lateral medullary syndrome)
  • Demyelinating disease, eg, multiple sclerosis
  • Syringomyelia
  • Cluster headache
  • Substernal goiter
