- Neurotoxicity of Broad-Spectrum Antibiotics in Urinary Tract Infections: Mechanisms and Clinical Implications. [Review]
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs) remain among the most common bacterial infections worldwide, affecting millions every year. While Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the predominant pathogen, a broad range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive organisms can be implicated. Treating UTIs, particularly complicated or severe infections, frequently relies on broad-spectrum antibiotics, often started empiricall…

- Unveiling the Potential of Fish Swim Bladder-Derived Biomaterials in Urological Care. [Review]
- Fish swim bladder (FSB)-derived biomaterials have recently emerged as a promising marine-based extracellular matrix (ECM) platform with potential applications in urological tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This narrative review synthesizes current evidence regarding the structural, biological, and functional properties of FSB and evaluates its potential role in urological reconstruct…

- Assessing the Level of Prostate Cancer Care in a Low-Resource Setting: Disease Pattern, Current Situation of Care, and the Need for Reform-A Retrospective Observational Study From East Oncology Centre, Sudan. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the suboptimal care for PC in eastern Sudan, where most patients present with late-stage disease, probably due to resource limitations. Addressing late-stage PC requires opportunistic digital rectal examination screening, targeted PSA testing, and increased awareness. Improved outcomes rely on specialist training, standardised care protocols, and the expansion of radiation facilities.

- Neutropenia in Patients With Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Treated Using Cabazitaxel and Prophylactic Administration of Pegfilgrastim. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite universal pegfilgrastim prophylaxis, approximately 10% of Japanese patients developed FN during the first cycle of cabazitaxel therapy. A longer interval from CRPC diagnosis to cabazitaxel initiation showed a consistent trend toward association with FN risk in Japanese patients across analyses. These findings provide real-world safety data and highlight the importance of careful hematologic monitoring, particularly in patients treated later in the CRPC disease course.

- Klotho G-395A Polymorphism as a Risk Factor for Atrial Fibrillation in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The A allele of Klotho G-395A may be a risk marker of atrial fibrillation in MHD patients. Moreover, sKl deficiency may contribute to the early development of atrial fibrillation in MHD patients.

- Association Between Prostate Morphology and Intraoperative Blood Loss During Transurethral Resection of the Prostate: A Prospective Observational Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: A lower prostate W/L ratio was independently associated with greater intraoperative blood loss during TURP. Although its effect size was smaller than those of operative time and prostate volume, the W/L ratio may serve as an adjunctive morphometric marker that is readily available from preoperative imaging. Trial Registration: Chinese Registry of Clinical Trial: ChiCTR2400088743.

- Renal Cell Carcinoma Texture Analysis With the KiTS23 Dataset: A Retrospective Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Radiomics-based machine learning shows promise for discriminating ccRCC from non-ccRCC renal tumors, but the results remain preliminary and have been evaluated internally. Given the moderate discrimination and lack of external validation, further studies using larger, multicenter datasets with standardized radiomics workflows are necessary.

- Clinical Characteristics, Long-Term Outcomes, and Prognostic Factors in High-and Very High-Risk Prostate Cancer: A 25-Year Institutional Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Poorer ECOG performance status and biochemical recurrence were independently associated with worse PCSS in patients with hvPCa. These findings highlight the prognostic importance of patient functional status in addition to conventional tumor-related factors and may contribute to improved risk stratification and individualized treatment selection.

- Clinical Significance of Pathological Lymph Node Status in Prostate Cancer Patients Undergoing Radical Prostatectomy: A 25-Year Institutional Cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Pathological lymph node positivity is a strong independent predictor of inferior OS in patients undergoing RP for localized prostate cancer. These findings underscore the need for tailored postoperative management strategies in patients with node-positive disease.

- Holmium: YAG Popcorn Lithotripsy-In Vitro Comparison of Settings and MOSES Across Stone Densities. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this in vitro popcorn lithotripsy model, 1.0 J/30 Hz provided the most consistent performance across density groups. MOSES modulation did not improve outcomes in low-density stones but was associated with improved efficiency in intermediate- and high-density stones.

- Prognostic Value of Serum Cystatin C for Predicting Contrast-Induced Nephropathy in Elderly Individuals Aged Over 80 Years. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The occurrence of contrast-induced nephropathy is related to age, serum CysC, and serum creatinine levels. In particular, serum CysC had high predictive value for CI-AKI in those aged above 80 years.

- Real-World Outcomes of Combination Therapy With Radium-223 and Enzalutamide Compared With Enzalutamide Alone in Patients With Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer. [Journal Article]
- Radium-223 and enzalutamide have shown survival benefits in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, and recent trial data suggest a potential synergy in combination. However, real-world data on their combined use, especially regarding fracture risk and prior androgen receptor signaling inhibitor exposure, are limited. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of adding …

- Optimizing Intermittent Catheterization Following Spinal Cord Injury: A Narrative Review Using the WHO Health System Building Blocks Framework. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Optimizing IC outcomes in SCI requires stronger health systems that support coordinated, accessible, and sustainable care. Integrating IC services into broader health system strengthening initiatives may reduce preventable complications, improve quality of life (QoL), and support Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) on health and well-being.

- Effects of Endourologic Devices and Connectors on Irrigation Flow Through the Flexible Ureteroscope Working Channel. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Both connector choice and instrument size significantly affect irrigation flow in flexible ureteroscopy. Large-diameter instruments almost abolish flow regardless of connector, whereas with smaller instruments, connector design influences performance. These findings emphasize the importance of selecting optimal connector-instrument combinations to maintain intraoperative visibility.

- Monitoring Intrarenal Pressure vs. Irrigation Fluid Absorption for Infection Prevention in Ureteroscopy. [Review]
- As ureteroscopy (URS) is increasingly utilized, preventing and managing severe postoperative infections-such as urosepsis-has become a clinical priority. Elevated intrarenal pressure (IRP) and irrigation fluid absorption (IFA) represent two core pathophysiological steps in the translocation of bacteria and endotoxins into the bloodstream. This review compares the clinical utility and technologica…
