- Maternal Obesity Is Associated With Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Matched Electronic Health Record Cohort Study. [Journal Article]Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Oct 28. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: More than one in five pregnancies in women with IBD were complicated by obesity. Obesity was strongly associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, whereas this study did not identify a significant additional effect attributable to IBD diagnosis alone. Preventive prescribing with aspirin and LMWH represents an opportunity for improved antenatal care.

- Meta-Analysis: Potassium-Competitive Acid Blockers Versus Proton Pump Inhibitors for Gastroprotection in Patients Receiving Antiplatelet Therapy. [Review]Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Oct 28. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: P-CABs showed no statistically significant difference from PPIs in gastrointestinal bleeding. Lower rates of MACE and revascularisation were from observational studies. Therefore, these findings should be interpreted with caution, as they do not establish non-inferiority or a cardiovascular benefit. Randomised trials are needed to confirm these findings.

- Management and Outcomes of Bleeding Ectopic Varices in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis: A Systematic Review and Pooled Analysis. [Review]Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Oct 27. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: Bleeding ectopic varices frequently recurs and carries high mortality. An individualised approach in conjunction with early multidisciplinary team discussions is essential in achieving favourable patient outcomes.

- CONCLUSIONS: These data do not show a relationship between diarrhoea and elevated MC in the colonic mucosa. Therefore, we suggest that the incorporation of MC quantification into the histologic evaluation of colonoscopic biopsies obtained for common GI indications may not be warranted.

- CONCLUSIONS: A pragmatic, risk-stratified, model-informed approach centered on baseline clearance and early troughs may guide personalized infliximab induction in ulcerative colitis. External validation is warranted.

- Beyond Anticoagulant Exposure: Determinants of Mortality After Gastrointestinal Bleeding Across DOAC, Warfarin and Non-Anticoagulated Patients. [Journal Article]Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Oct 22. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: Neither DOAC nor warfarin was significantly associated with 30-day or 1-year mortality after GIB, including when bleeding severity and admitting ward were excluded from the outcome model. Thirty-day mortality was associated with severity at presentation, whereas 1-year mortality was associated with underlying patient characteristics. Resumption was not significantly associated with mortality or readmission for recurrent bleeding.

- Meta-Analysis: Safety and Effectiveness of Advanced Therapies in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients With Concomitant Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. [Review]Aliment Pharmacol Ther. 2026 Oct 21. [Online ahead of print]AP
- CONCLUSIONS: Advanced IBD therapies demonstrate modest but encouraging effectiveness and an acceptable safety profile in PSC-IBD; however, the available evidence is limited by retrospective study designs, small sample sizes and substantial clinical and methodological heterogeneity. Prospective controlled studies using standardised IBD outcomes are needed to inform optimal therapeutic strategies in this high-risk population.

- CONCLUSIONS: One year after EoE diagnosis, oesophageal cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma rates remained elevated. Most oesophageal cancers occurred in patients with prior BE, suggesting that the association between EoE and oesophageal cancer may be mediated largely through BE.
