  • Polysubstance use among patients with opioid use disorder. [Journal Article]
    Am J Prev Med. 2026 Oct 30; :108629. [Online ahead of print]White B, Skinner J, … Ali MMAJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: These findings highlight the utility of UDTs linked with medical and pharmacy claims data as a public health surveillance tool. Large-scale UDT data linked with clinical claims may complement traditional surveillance approaches by providing timely, clinically contextualized information on polysubstance use patterns among patients with OUD.

  • Disparities and Temporal Trends in Syphilis Testing Among Pregnancies Ending in Stillbirth and Miscarriage, U.S., 2016-2023. [Journal Article]
Am J Prev Med. 2026 Oct 30; :108630. [Online ahead of print]Azqul M, Chinchilli VM, … Pinto CNAJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Syphilis screening/testing among pregnancies ending in stillbirth and miscarriage remains insufficient, with no improvement over time. Ongoing gaps and disparities in screening/testing may contribute to preventable adverse outcomes. A deeper understanding of the ongoing low screening/testing rates and disparities is needed to support the development of more focused and effective strategies to improve syphilis screening coverage.

  • CONCLUSIONS: M/PQCs function as a form of primary and secondary prevention, institutionalizing evidence-based protocols before obstetric emergencies occur. M/PQCs' evolution from clinical safety bundles toward equity, access, and social determinants signals an expanding mandate. Future initiatives should prioritize disaggregated outcome reporting, health equity frameworks, and inclusion of community birth and outpatient settings to ensure M/PQC gains are equitably distributed.
  • Utilization of Dental Preventive and Treatment Services Among Older Adults with and without ADRD. [Journal Article]
    Am J Prev Med. 2026 Oct 22; :108612. [Online ahead of print]Luo H, Qi X, … Wu BAJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Disparities in dental care for older adults with ADRD are associated with differences in individual characteristics as well as unexplained factors that may represent barriers to accessing dental care. Closing these gaps requires moving beyond financial coverage toward integrated, community-based delivery models. Such strategies are vital to shifting care from episodic treatment to sustainable prevention.
