- Persistent pocket-site pain after cardiac implantable electronic device implantation: a prospective observational study of prevalence, neuropathic characteristics, and quality of life. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Persistent pocket-site pain after CIED implantation affected a clinically meaningful proportion of patients despite generally low overall pain scores. Higher DN-4 scores were associated with poorer physical and mental quality of life and may provide additional clinical information in selected patients. However, because the categorical association between VAS-defined persistent pain and DN-4 positivity was not statistically significant, these findings should be interpreted cautiously and confirmed in larger prospective studies.

- Development and validation of a predictive model for delayed emergence from anesthesia in elderly patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery: a retrospective study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The nomogram demonstrated good discrimination and clinical utility for predicting delayed emergence from anesthesia in elderly patients undergoing VATS. It may facilitate perioperative risk assessment and individualized perioperative management, although further recalibration may be required before external application.

- Childhood Exposure to General Anesthesia For Surgery: Identification of a Subtle Post-Operative Cognitive Phenotype. [Journal Article]Anesthesiology. 2026 Oct 21. [Online ahead of print]A
- CONCLUSIONS: Early childhood exposure to general anesthesia was not associated with reduced overall executive function. However, a potential post-operative cognitive phenotype is suggested by a reduced likelihood to belong to an efficient executive control profile with greater visuo-spatial global-local precedence.

- Portable polysomnography-derived multi-domain EEG markers of anesthetic state transitions during propofol anesthesia for gastrointestinal endoscopy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Portable PSG-derived six-channel EEG captured stage-related spectral, spindle-like event, and sensor-level connectivity changes during propofol anesthesia for GI endoscopy. These findings identify candidate EEG features for future evaluation of emergence detection and atypical anesthetic-state identification during procedural anesthesia. Their utility for real-time propofol titration or excessive-sedation warning requires prospective validation.

- Clavipectoral fascia block associated with intermediate cervical plexus block versus intermediate cervical plexus block alone in clavicle surgeries: a randomized clinical trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this randomized clinical trial, the addition of a clavipectoral fascia plane block to an intermediate cervical plexus block was not associated with a statistically significant reduction in immediate postoperative morphine consumption or PACU length of stay. However, given the unexpectedly low opioid consumption and the resulting floor effect, modest differences between interventions cannot be excluded. Larger adequately powered studies are required to better define the role of combined regional anesthesia techniques in clavicle surgery.

- Dexmedetomidine-based opioid-sparing anesthesia in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery: a randomized controlled trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Dexmedetomidine-based opioid-sparing anesthesia reduced maintenance-phase rescue fentanyl administration during VATS. However, the reduction was modest, was not associated with clear postoperative benefits, and was accompanied by increased bradycardia and hypotension.

- Association of surgical risk prediction models with days alive out of hospital at 30 days in colorectal surgeries: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Surgical risk prediction models were significantly associated with postoperative recovery measured by DAOH following colorectal surgery. The ACS Surgical Risk Calculator estimates for serious and any complication demonstrated good discriminative performance for reduced DAOH30, suggesting their potential utility in identifying patients at risk of impaired postoperative recovery.

- Association of preoperative forced vital capacity with prolonged mechanical ventilation after coronary artery bypass grafting: a retrospective cohort Study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Nearly one-tenth of patients undergoing CABG required PMV, which was associated with greater healthcare resource utilization and higher perioperative complications. Predicted FVC, but not predicted FEV1, is an independent predictor of PMV.

- Anaesthetic challenges in a nonagenarian with Parkinson's disease undergoing hip fracture surgery: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Spinal anaesthesia is feasible in nonagenarians with multiple comorbidities, including Parkinson's disease. This case highlights the need for evidence-based dose optimisation and proactive complication prevention. It further emphasises the importance of low-dose bupivacaine-based spinal anaesthesia in very elderly patients, meticulous perioperative glycaemic monitoring, continuation of dopaminergic therapy, structured delirium prevention strategies, caregiver education, and strict adherence to dysphagia-safe feeding protocols in high-risk geriatric patients.

- Comparison of dexmedetomidine and droperidol-fentanyl for asleep-awake-asleep techniques in awake craniotomy anesthesia: a randomized controlled study. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: No statistically significant differences were detected in OAA/S scores at wake-up or intraoperative brain mapping performance between the two groups. The dexmedetomidine regimen was associated with a shorter measured wake-up time.

- Postoperative pulmonary complications after high-altitude thoracic surgery requiring one-lung ventilation: a single-centre retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this single-centre high-altitude thoracic OLV cohort, PPCs occurred in 42.9% of patients and were predominantly atelectasis and pneumonia. After multivariable adjustment, ASA physical status ≥ III, preoperative anaemia, longer surgical duration, and bronchial blocker use remained associated with PPCs. The bronchial-blocker estimate is susceptible to confounding by indication. Without a low-altitude comparator or granular ventilation data, the findings should be interpreted as observational, hypothesis-generating signals rather than causal effects of altitude or lung-isolation devices. External validation is required.

- A prospective randomized controlled trial comparing subpectineal and interfascial obturator nerve block techniques in preventing adductor muscle spasm during transurethral resection of bladder tumors. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Both ultrasound-guided ONB techniques demonstrate high descriptive clinical success rates when utilizing an anatomically tailored dosing regimen. Although the non-significant p-value must be interpreted with caution due to sample size limitations, both approaches provide viable and effective options for preventing severe adductor muscle spasm during lateral wall TURBT.
