- Association between prophylactic hydrocortisone and focal intestinal perforations in preterm infants born before 28 weeks gestation: an observational propensity matched population study in England and Wales. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Early prophylactic hydrocortisone from the first postnatal week was not associated with FIP. The observed association with higher mortality was a secondary finding in this observational study and requires cautious interpretation and further investigation.

- Nasal versus oral intubation in the neonatal intensive care unit: associations with procedural success and safety in a retrospective cohort study from the National Emergency Airway Registry for Neonates (NEAR4NEOS). [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Nasal intubation may not be the preferred approach for infants in settings where it is infrequently performed but may achieve comparable or improved intubation-related outcomes in centres with established expertise.

- Improving early detection of critical congenital heart disease in a high-performing prenatal screening system: the OXYNAT interventional cohort study. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: In a healthcare setting with high antenatal CHD detection, PO alone is insufficient. Integrating systematic paediatric examination significantly improves diagnostic performance.

- Clinical performance and practical implications of continuous glucose monitoring in very preterm infants: a cohort study. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: CGM can provide clinically meaningful information in very preterm infants despite modest analytical inaccuracy when compared with single point-of-care values. Its greatest utility lies in continuous trend monitoring, early detection of silent dysglycaemia and reduced invasive sampling, rather than replacement of diagnostic blood testing. Clinicians should interpret SG values in context, confirm unexpected extremes with BG and focus on patterns rather than single values.

- Association between cerebral proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy and school-age neurodevelopment after perinatal asphyxia and therapeutic hypothermia: a cohort study. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Neonatal [1]H-MRS biomarkers, especially Lac/NAA peak-area ratio, were associated with adverse outcomes at school age. Including [1]H-MRS in routine neonatal imaging could improve prognostication and guide early interventions.

- Child's daily life at 10 years following moderate, late preterm, or early term birth: results from EPIPAGE-2 and ELFE cohorts. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 23. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: MPT/LPT children's daily lives differ from those of FT children in some respects. Those discrepancies should be explored further to better understand needs and accommodate them. Findings may not generalise to disadvantaged groups.

- Neonatal automated oxygen titration algorithms: response characteristics and performance. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 23. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Automated oxygen control devices exhibit considerable variation in their FiO2 response to SpO2 disturbances, with important consequences for SpO2 targeting potential and the pattern of FiO2 adjustment.

- Bloodstream infections in young infants: a cohort study. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 16. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of GBS and Enterobacterales BSI has risen in young infants in Queensland, especially for early-onset GBS since 2014. These findings highlight the increasing importance of Enterobacterales infections in young infants and the need to reconsider prevention strategies for early-onset GBS.

- CONCLUSIONS: CLNT did not demonstrate non-inferiority to SBP according to the prespecified non-inferiority criterion for preventing treatment failure. Nevertheless, CLNT was associated with substantially lower rates of nasal trauma without evidence of increased short-term morbidity or mortality.

- Paediatric outcomes after maternal nipocalimab for haemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn: an open-label, single-arm study. [Journal Article]Arch Dis Child Fetal Neonatal Ed. 2026 Sep 07. [Online ahead of print]AD
- CONCLUSIONS: Maternal nipocalimab in pregnancies at high risk of EOS-HDFN may reduce adverse neonatal outcomes correlating with low cord-blood alloantibody titres, without affecting growth through 6 months, neurodevelopment or HRQoL through 24 months of life.
