  • Seasonal Variation in Skin Cancer Presentation in Primary Care Clinic in Parramatta, NSW. [Journal Article]
Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Sep 29. [Online ahead of print]Johns M, Aksoy Y, Bonilla GMAJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: No clinically significant seasonal variation in skin cancer presentation was found in a large primary care skin cancer cohort in metropolitan Sydney; however, COVID-19 exerts a substantial and sustained impact. Vigilance regarding the long-term consequences of pandemic-related healthcare disruptions is warranted.
  • Dupilumab in Paediatric Netherton Syndrome: Two Case Reports and a Review of the Literature. [Journal Article]
Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Sep 22. [Online ahead of print]Tu J, Kim PSW, … Wong LCAJ
  • Netherton Syndrome (NS) is a rare genodermatosis characterised by a triad of ichthyosiform erythroderma, an atopic diathesis, and trichorrhexis invaginata, for which no effective management is currently approved in Australia. Dupilumab has demonstrated considerable effectiveness in the treatment of atopic conditions in the paediatric population. We conducted a literature review to identify trends…
  • Scabies Referrals to a New Zealand Dermatology Service: Recognition, Treatment and Persistent Symptoms. [Journal Article]
Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Sep 20. [Online ahead of print]Abuharbid B, Koch K, Oakley AAJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: Most scabies-related referrals were clinically consistent with dermatologist-diagnosed or possible scabies, and clinical recognition by referrers was generally high, although classical supporting features were inconsistently documented. Persistent symptoms were common and likely multifactorial, more in keeping with treatment complexity, reinfestation, and socioeconomic barriers than true antiparasitic resistance.
  • Perineal Nodular Induration (Cyclist's Nodule). [Journal Article]
Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Sep 16. [Online ahead of print]Rademaker MAJ
  • Perineal nodular induration, also called Cyclist's nodule, is an uncommon, benign pseudotumour of the perineal soft tissues that arises almost exclusively in individuals who engage in prolonged saddle-based sports, most notably road cycling. It is thought to result from chronic mechanical microtrauma-pressure, vibration, and shear-transmitted between the ischial tuberosities and a hard saddle. Ma…
  • The Development of Non-Tuberculosis Mycobacterial Infections in Sézary Syndrome: A Case Report of Two Patients. [Journal Article]
    Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Sep 12. [Online ahead of print]Warren Z, Bhabha F, … McCormack CAJ
  • Sézary syndrome (SS) is a rare cutaneous T-cell lymphoma associated with increased risks of opportunistic and atypical infections. This report presents two patients with SS and concurrent non-tuberculosis mycobacterial cutaneous infections. Although rare, difficult to diagnose and challenging to treat, these cases highlight the importance of considering atypical infectious causes in patients with…
  • External Genital Cutaneous Sarcoidosis Mimicking Lichen Sclerosus. [Journal Article]
Australas J Dermatol. 2026 Sep 11. [Online ahead of print]Mudalige E, Stevenson AAJ
  • Although external genital cutaneous sarcoidosis is rare, it can closely resemble lichen sclerosus (LS) and delay diagnosis. We report a case of a 69-year-old woman with long-standing vulvar symptoms and LS-like pallor of the labia minora and clitoris. Biopsy showed non-caseating granulomas with negative infection stains, consistent with vulvar sarcoidosis. This case supports the need for early bi…
