  • Does bespoke metabolic investigation reduce urinary stone recurrence? A narrative review. [Review]
BJU Int. 2026 Oct 20. [Online ahead of print]Wiseman OJ, Turney BWBI
  • CONCLUSIONS: The case for bespoke prevention is strongest in recurrent, high-risk and post-procedural stone formers. Identifying the abnormality, correcting it, ensuring adherence and confirming the response by repeat testing offers the best chance to reduce stone recurrence and residual-stone growth, improve HRQOL, and lower financial cost.
  • Androgen driven organoids for the male urogenital system. [Review]
BJU Int. 2026 Oct 20. [Online ahead of print]Liu A, Yang L, … Dong QBI
  • Androgen signalling plays a central role in the development and function of the male urogenital system, including the adrenal gland, prostate, and testis. Disruption of the androgen axis underlies diseases ranging from infertility to castration-resistant prostate cancer, yet current models fail to fully display its multi-organ and hormone-driven complexity. Organoid systems provide a promising pl…
  • Transient apnoea for motion control during flexible ureteroscopic lithotripsy: a randomised trial. [Journal Article]
BJU Int. 2026 Oct 18. [Online ahead of print]Yu J, Zhou Y, … Li LBI
  • CONCLUSIONS: Transient apnoea improved lithotripsy efficiency and shortened operative time compared with RMV and STVV, with higher surgeon-rated targeting stability. The benefit was primarily intraoperative, without evidence of greater postoperative stone clearance. Protocolised TA may provide a brief intraoperative motion-control option with pre-oxygenation, continuous anaesthetic monitoring, and individualised termination.
