  • Advances in modified anti-Aβ antibodies for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. [Review]
    BMC Med. 2026 Jul 29; 24(1).Li S, Gu J, … Yu CBM
  • Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive and irreversible neurodegenerative disorder, the treatment of which remains a major clinical challenge. In recent years, significant progress has been made in the immunotherapy of AD. Notably, monoclonal antibodies targeting amyloid-β (Aβ) have already been applied in clinical practice. However, as macromolecular therapeutics, antibodies face substantial …
  • Clinical trial data transparency should match data access to scientific purpose: a tiered framework for reproducibility and reuse. [Journal Article]
    BMC Med. 2026 Oct 22; 24(1).Mansmann U, Tai KH, … Naudet FBM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Publication-time reduced datasets can provide meaningful and timely transparency when broader IPD are not yet accessible. Their value should be recognised without confusing endpoint-level numerical reproducibility with reproduction of the complete analytic process or broader scientific reuse. We propose that publication-time reduced datasets should form a practical floor for timely transparency, while reproducibility packages and governed access to broader IPD provide progressively richer opportunities for reproducing, interrogating, and extending clinical trial analyses.
  • Diagnostic accuracy of point-of-care ultrasound in adult non-traumatic emergency medicine: an umbrella review. [Systematic Review]
    BMC Med. 2026 Jul 25; 24(1).Schneider C, Frei N, … Müller MBM
  • CONCLUSIONS: POCUS shows promising diagnostic accuracy across adult non-traumatic emergency medicine-relevant conditions, often with moderate to high sensitivity and very high specificity. However, the overall strength and consistency of the evidence are limited. Therefore, diagnostic performance estimates should be interpreted with caution and within the context of each specific clinical condition, and should not be considered directly comparable or additive across different indications. Further high-quality research is needed to better define its role in emergency care.
  • Reduced neural sensitivity to emotional faces and voices in preterm five-year-olds: a comparative study. [Journal Article]
    BMC Med. 2026 Jul 27; 24(1).Van den Broeck R, Gistelinck L, … Boets BBM
  • CONCLUSIONS: Five-year-old children born preterm show reduced neural sensitivity to brief changes in facial and vocal emotional expressions compared with full-term peers. Strikingly, the impact of prematurity severity differed between the visual and auditory modalities, indicating differential maturation of higher-level visual and auditory processing following preterm birth. These findings contribute to a more detailed understanding of socio-emotional development after preterm birth and highlight the importance of early, modality-sensitive monitoring of socio-emotional development across the entire preterm population.
