- Single-session therapeutic plasma exchange as salvage therapy for pegaspargase-induced severe acute pancreatitis accompanied by multiple organ dysfunction in a pediatric patient with B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Single-session TPE can rapidly reverse refractory MODS triggered by pegaspargase-induced SAP when conventional supportive treatments show no efficacy. Nevertheless, complete clinical recovery cannot be solely attributed to apheresis, as continuous multi-organ supportive management was provided throughout the treatment course. TPE can be regarded as a targeted rescue strategy for carefully selected critically ill pediatric patients, yet existing meta-analyses and ASFA consensus statements do not support its universal routine use. Large-scale prospective pediatric cohort studies are required to determine the optimal timing and treatment cycles of TPE.

- Association between attention-deficit/hyperactivity symptoms and body composition in children: a health examination-based study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Specific body composition components show distinct, symptom-domain-specific associations in children with ADHD, independent of overall weight status. The inverse association of skeletal muscle mass with inattention was not explained by the metabolic markers examined.

- Time to recovery and its predictors among under-five children with severe pneumonia at Jimma town public hospitals, Southwestern Oromia, Ethiopia: a retrospective follow-up study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The overall median recovery time was 5 days. Recovery from severe pneumonia was delayed among under-five children who were malnourished, not exclusively breastfed or not fully vaccinated at admission. Future efforts should focus on strengthening child nutrition, promoting exclusive breastfeeding and ensuring full vaccination coverage to reduce recovery time in under-five children with severe pneumonia.

- Survival analysis of maternal, household, environmental, and child-level determinants of under-five mortality in Nigeria. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Under-five mortality is highest in the neonatal period and is shaped by birth spacing, multiple births, and inequality. Improving early interventions, optimal spacing, and reducing regional disparities are key to improving child survival.

- Cardiac changes in children with post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis: a prospective observational study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Transient subclinical functional cardiac changes were evident in pediatric patients with PSGN. These transient changes may impose significant clinically relevant risks, particularly in the acute phase of the disease. Selected patients in appropriate clinical contexts may benefit from advanced cardiac investigations. QTc prolongation may warrant attention as an initial assessment tool of myocardial status, while myocardial performance index can be considered as an advanced measure. However, both tools should be interpreted with caution and within the relevant clinical context since they are subjected to various confounders.

- Preliminary exploration of tissue oxygen saturation index using near-infrared spectroscopy in two infants of neonatal catheter-associated venous thrombosis. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: NIRS-monitored limb tissue oxygen saturation index can indicate the local venous filling status, which may facilitate the assessment of thrombolytic efficacy and the surveillance of thrombus formation.

- How do the measurement properties of the broad-band scales for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder in children perform based on the COSMIN guidelines? [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Among the included broad-band instruments, given the evidence of insufficient cross-cultural validity, applying the COSMIN criteria to the CBCL Attention Problems subscale would lead to a recommendation against its use; users outside North America should be cautious. The SDQ Hyperactivity-Inattention subscale demonstrates comparatively favorable measurement properties, though this does not establish its overall superiority for ADHD assessment. Future studies should evaluate content validity, measurement error, and responsiveness following COSMIN guidelines.

- Development and validation of a clinical prediction model for gastrointestinal hemorrhage in pediatric IgA vasculitis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This admission-based preliminary prediction model achieves moderate discrimination for post-admission GH in pediatric IgAV. The primary continuous model preserves predictive information, while a simplified dichotomized scoring system facilitates bedside triage. In conclusion, this admission-based model preserves substantial predictive information and provides a validated baseline framework; we now propose and open this simplified dichotomized scoring system for external validation across international multicenter pediatric cohorts.

- Parental needs and experiences with e-Health applications in chronic pediatric care - a scoping review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Parents of children with chronic conditions articulate broad, cross-cutting needs for e-Health applications that go beyond diagnosis-specific management. From their perspective, effective tools should integrate accessible design, reliable information, coordination features, social support, and ensure data protection. Research gaps remain regarding transitional care phases and the dynamic evolution of needs over time.

- Combined use of the pediatric Yorkhill malnutrition score and mid-upper arm circumference for identifying nutritional risk and predicting length of hospital stay in hospitalized children: a pilot study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the impact of socio-economic inequities-such as low income and household overcrowding-on chronic malnutrition and confirms the clinical relevance of the double burden of malnutrition. PYMS and MUAC effectively predict prolonged hospitalization and adverse clinical outcomes. The integration of socio-economic risk assessment with routine malnutrition screening may guide equitable resource allocation and improve care for vulnerable pediatric populations.

- Factors influencing health-related quality of life in children with leukemia in Saudi Arabia: a cross- sectional study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: HRQoL in children with leukemia was independently associated with physical function, cancer treatment, and several sociodemographic characteristics. These findings highlight the importance of incorporating functional assessment and multidisciplinary supportive care into the management of children with leukemia to optimize HRQoL.

- From metabolic disorder to autoimmunity: lupus-like immune dysregulation in children with SLC7A7-associated lysinuric protein intolerance. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: LPI-associated lupus-like immune dysregulation is rare and clinically heterogeneous. Accurate diagnosis requires an integrated assessment of genetic, metabolic, and immunologic data. Immunomodulatory therapy may be effective, but vigilance is essential due to infection risk and disease flares. Early recognition, management, and long-term follow-up are critical to improving prognosis.

- Epidemiology of food allergy in children under 3 years old in Guangdong: a community cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: FA is a significant health concern among infants in Guangdong, with distinct allergen profiles and urban-rural disparities. These findings underscore the need for region-specific dietary guidance and individualized infant feeding practices to mitigate allergy risk and address nutritional concerns in allergic children.

- Evaluating the therapeutic efficacy of a modified ketogenic diet in children with autism spectrum disorder: a randomized controlled trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort of young children with ASD, the modified ketogenic diet combined with rehabilitation training was associated with greater short-term reductions in ABC and CARS scores than rehabilitation alone. The intervention demonstrated acceptable short-term feasibility.

- Establishing preliminary normative reference values for oral motor skills in typically developing Egyptian children using oral placement therapy tools. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: OPT tool hierarchies provide a feasible and practical method for assessing oral motor function in typically developing Egyptian children. The preliminary reference data generated in this study may serve as a useful clinical guide for the early identification and management of oral motor disorders. However, multi-center validation and comprehensive psychometric evaluation are warranted before these data can be adopted as standardized clinical benchmarks.
