  • Reward learning in prolonged grief: Evidence from the probabilistic reward task. [Journal Article]
Behav Res Ther. 2026 Sep 19; 206:105164. [Online ahead of print]Azevedo S, Bryant RABR
  • CONCLUSIONS: The findings did not indicate a broad deficit in learning from probabilistic monetary reinforcement among participants with probable PGD. Future research should examine whether reward-related difficulties in prolonged grief are more evident in valuation or motivation, particularly for social and attachment-related rewards.
  • Emotion beliefs predict resilience via emotional reactivity: A multi-timepoint study in university students. [Journal Article]
Behav Res Ther. 2026 Sep 15; 206:105150. [Online ahead of print]Notebaert L, Kalisch R, Mazidi MBR
  • Understanding resilience in tertiary students is important, as this developmental period is characterised by elevated stressor exposure and vulnerability to mental health difficulties. Although emotion beliefs and emotional reactivity are each linked to mental health, little is known about their role in resilient functioning following adversity. This study used a three-wave longitudinal design in…
  • Intrusive memories as conditioned responses to odours: A critical test of cue-specificity. [Journal Article]
    Behav Res Ther. 2026 Sep 15; 206:105156. [Online ahead of print]Vossoughi L, Schnelzer S, … Visser RMBR
  • Intrusive memories, a hallmark of trauma-related psychopathology, have been conceptualised as conditioned responses (CRs) to trauma-related cues. Yet, some real-world and laboratory findings challenge whether such memories are indeed a result of a neutral conditioned stimulus (CS) signaling a distressing outcome (unconditioned stimulus). Understanding which associative learning processes contribu…
  • When good news falls short: Prospective role of positive belief updating in predicting post-trauma distress. [Journal Article]
    Behav Res Ther. 2026 Oct; 205:105137.Hay DE, Porat-Butman S, … Levy-Gigi EBR
  • Adaptive functioning relies on the ability to update beliefs in response to new information. However, belief updating is often optimistically biased, with individuals more readily revising their beliefs in response to desirable (good news) than to undesirable (bad news) information. Deficiencies in positive updating have been linked to psychological distress. However, the temporal association bet…
