- Computational modeling and expression of recombinant interleukin 15-R-Tf-D-LP4 peptide fusion protein: a potent candidate for hepatocellular carcinoma. [Journal Article]Biotechnol Lett. 2026 Oct 09; 48(5).BL
- Development of therapies that selectively inhibit cancer cells but leave normal cells untouched is an important impediment to progress in cancer therapy. This paper reports the novel strategy employing the R-Tf-D-LP4 peptide, an unconventional cell penetrating peptide selectively targeting liver cancer cells, combined with the potent antitumor cytokine interleukin 15 (IL-15), with selective activ…

- Rheology as a monitoring tool for the biochemical parameters of insect cell-baculovirus system. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Rheological properties reflected compositional changes occurring during insect cell cultivations; however, under the conditions studied, rheology did not significantly improve quantitative monitoring of key biochemical parameters using other approaches. These findings indicate that while rheology may provide complementary process information, further investigation is required before its application as a robust PAT tool for VLP production.

- Inhibitors of Mycobacterium tuberculosis methionyl-tRNA synthetase are sensitive to the mutations E24A and L293A in aminoacyl-adenylate binding site. [Journal Article]
- The objective of this study was to obtain Mycobacterium tuberculosis methionyl-tRNA synthetase (MetRS) mutant forms E24A and L293A and investigate the efficiency of M. tuberculosis MetRS inhibitors toward these mutant forms in order to predict binding mechanisms. The recombinant mutant M. tuberculosis MetRS E24A and L293A were obtained using overlap PCR. The recombinant proteins MetRS E24A and L2…

- Metabolic unlocking of lycopene accumulation in the oleaginous yeast Rhodotorula toruloides. [Journal Article]
- Lycopene is a high-value carotenoid with broad applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. The oleaginous yeast Rhodotorula toruloides naturally synthesizes mixed carotenoids but fails to accumulate lycopene, primarily due to the bifunctional activity of lycopene cyclase/phytoene synthase Car2, which efficiently converts lycopene into downstream cyclic carotenoids. Here, we…

- Heterologous expression of active xanthine oxidase from Cellulosimicrobium sp. TH20 in Escherichia coli. [Journal Article]
- Active bacterial xanthine oxidase (XOD) has not been functionally expressed in Escherichia coli, limiting protein engineering of this industrial molybdoflavoprotein. Here, the first production of active XOD from Cellulosimicrobium sp. TH20 in E. coli BW25113 is reported. The key factor was identified as the plasmid pBADp15, combining a low-copy P15A origin with the tightly regulated araBAD promot…

- Transcriptome sequencing of Bacillus sp. HMM and effect of GH gene overexpression on cellulase activities. [Journal Article]
- Bacillus sp. HMM can efficiently yield cellulase. However, transcriptome data and sequences of important genes such as cellulase gene are indistinct now, which restricts genetic reconstruction of strain HMM. In current paper, GO, COG and KEGG classification of unigenes from transcriptome sequencing of strain HMM was analyzed in detail, and cellulase gene GH (TR1834) encoding glycosylhydrolase was…

- Porcine pancreas lipase: a versatile biocatalyst. [Review]
- Porcine pancreatic lipase, a 1, 3-regioselective lipase, is one of the most widely used biocatalyst in academic as well as industrial processes. This lipase showed remarkable catalytic performance, often outclassed other types of lipases in producing valuable products through varieties of reactions. During hydrolysis of vegetable oil to fatty acid, mono and diacylglycerol, porcine pancreas lipase…

- Menaquinone-7 production by engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae through de novo Synthesis and fermentation optimization. [Journal Article]Biotechnol Lett. 2026 Sep 27; 48(5).BL
- Menaquinone-7 (MK-7), a highly preferred form of vitamin K2, has garnered extensive attention due to its long half-life in the human body and numerous nutritional and pharmacological benefits. To establish a cost-effective microbial platform for MK-7 production, we engineered the eukaryotic model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The complete biosynthesis pathway was modularized into three parts…

- Conversion of minimally processed Sargassum to lipids with the yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides. [Journal Article]
- The conversion of brown macroalgae like Sargassum offers a secure route for biofuel production from an abundant and underutilized biomass resource; however, efficient utilization of this feedstock remains a major challenge. This study explores the feasibility of converting unwashed and minimally processed Sargassum biomass to microbial lipids with the oleaginous yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides. A…

- Microfiber-flocked surfaces as a novel platform for biofilm and biohydrogen production. [Journal Article]
- For biohydrogen production, immobilized systems offer the potential for improved growth and productivity. In this study, microfiber-flocked surfaces were used as a novel strategy for Rhodobacter capsulatus biofilm-based photofermentative biohydrogen production. The surfaces were developed using electrostatic flocking by attaching polyamide microfibers to glass and poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) …
