  • Spatial synaptic pruning mechanism of NAC microglia in differential regulation of PTSD- and depression-like behaviors. [Journal Article]
    Brain Behav Immun. 2026 Aug 30; :106985. [Online ahead of print]Zhao M, Tian W, … Wang WBB
  • CONCLUSIONS: Stress may elicit two regionally heterogeneous microglial subpopulations within NAC: phagocytosis-enhanced and recognition-impaired, which remodel the structure and function of local neural networks by differential pruning of inhibitory synapses, thereby driving the manifestation of PTSD- and depression-like behaviors, separately. These findings deepen our understanding of the neuroinflammatory mechanisms underlying trauma-related psychiatric disorders and identify novel targets for immunomodulation-based targets for transdiagnostic interventions .
  • Therapeutic potential of a novel PPARγ agonist in a mouse model of HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment. [Journal Article]
Brain Behav Immun. 2026 Aug 26; :106981. [Online ahead of print]Titus C, Hoque MT, … Bendayan RBB
  • HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment (NCI) affects up to 50% of individuals living with HIV, causing cognitive, motor, and behavioral deficits, largely driven by brain inflammation. Activation of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), a transcription factor primarily involved in regulating lipid and glucose metabolism, has demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in neurodege…
  • Gut microbiota dysbiosis-induced neuroinflammation and IL-22/STAT3 activation in emotional disorders. [Journal Article]
    Brain Behav Immun. 2026 Aug 26; :106979. [Online ahead of print]Feng X, Hu Y, … Zhao LBB
  • Although gut microbiota dysbiosis is associated with emotional disorders, the signaling pathways that mediate gut-to-brain neuroinflammation remain unclear. This study employed a human microbiota-associated (HMA) mouse model colonized with microbiota from individuals with emotional abnormalities (HMA-EA), combined with functional oligosaccharides intervention experiments and a human intervention …
