- Ketamine Versus Magnesium Sulphate as Adjuvants to Bupivacaine in Pectoral Nerve Blocks for Mastectomy: A Randomized, Double-Blind Trial. [Journal Article]Clin Breast Cancer. 2026 Sep 25; 26(11):40-47. [Online ahead of print]CB
- CONCLUSIONS: Ketamine and magnesium sulphate both improve postoperative analgesia and reduce opioid consumption after mastectomy. Ketamine was superior to magnesium sulphate and may be the preferred adjuvant, though larger trials are needed.

- Clinical Utility of [[18]F]Fluoroestradiol PET/CT to Guide Second Line Treatment Decision in ER-Positive HER2-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer After Progression on First Line Endocrine Therapy. [Journal Article]Clin Breast Cancer. 2026 Sep 18; 26(11):32-39. [Online ahead of print]CB
- CONCLUSIONS: [[18]F]FES PET/CT altered therapeutic management in 37.8% of patients with MBC progressing on first line endocrine therapy and significantly increased oncologist's confidence in treatment selection. This imaging modality could help prevent unnecessary prolongation of ineffective endocrine therapy and delays in initiation of more effective options. Future studies should investigate potential outcome benefits after [[18]F]FES PET/CT-informed management changes.

- Potential Molecular Links Between Benzophenone-3 and Breast Cancer: Network Toxicology, Machine Learning, Molecular Modeling, and Gene Expression Validation. [Journal Article]Breast Cancer (Dove Med Press). 2026; 18:632531.BC
- CONCLUSIONS: Integrated computational analyses identified MMP13, ERBB2, and HMGCR as candidate genes potentially linking BP-3 with breast cancer-related molecular features. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations predicted feasible interactions between BP-3 and the corresponding proteins, while qRT-PCR confirmed the differential expression of these genes in breast cancer cell lines. These findings represent computational predictions and correlational evidence rather than proof of direct BP-3 regulation or causation. Direct BP-3 exposure experiments in cellular and animal models are required to establish causal relationships.

- Prognostic Value of Baseline Metabolic Tumor Volume on [[18]F]FDG PET/CT in Metastatic Breast Cancer Treated With CDK4/6 Inhibitors. [Journal Article]Clin Breast Cancer. 2026 Sep 20; 26(11):25-31. [Online ahead of print]CB
- CONCLUSIONS: Baseline TMTV is an independent prognostic factor for both PFS and OS in patients with HR+/HER2- MBC treated with CDK4/6 inhibitors.

- Time toxicity in breast cancer care: a nationwide cross-sectional survey of multidimensional time burden in Japan. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Time toxicity in breast cancer care extends beyond hospital visits to include substantial non-care time and family caregiving time. Recognizing time toxicity as a potentially modifiable dimension of treatment burden may help inform treatment planning, supportive care, and shared decision-making in breast cancer care.

- Limited clinical value of routine PET/CT in early-stage breast cancer: a multicenter retrospective study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort of asymptomatic patients with clinical stage I-IIA breast cancer, PET/CT rarely identifies additional metastatic disease and frequently results in false-positive findings. These results suggest a selective, risk-adapted use of PET/CT rather than routine staging in early-stage breast cancer, particularly in resource-constrained healthcare settings, and should be interpreted in the context of the study's retrospective design.

- Value of Breast and Axillary Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes for Response to Neoadjuvant Chemo-(Immuno)Therapy in Clinically Node-Positive Breast Cancer. [Journal Article]Clin Breast Cancer. 2026 Sep 17; 26(11):17-24. [Online ahead of print]CB
- CONCLUSIONS: Pre-NAC breast tumor TILs were associated with breast and axillary pCR, whereas ALNM TILs were not predictive of any pCR in cN+ breast cancer patients treated with NAC. Weak-to-moderate positive correlations were found between pre-NAC breast tumor and ALNM TILs and pre- and post-NAC breast tumor TILs.

- Comparison of four breast lymphoedema patient reported outcome measures in women following breast conserving surgery and radiotherapy: examination of frequencies of symptoms and measurement properties. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The BLYSS demonstrated the strongest measurement properties among the PROMs evaluated with strong internal consistency, construct validity and responsiveness. Breast symptoms were commonly experienced by women after breast cancer treatment.

- D-Dimer Dynamics as a Prognostic and Monitoring Biomarker in Triple-Negative and Metastatic Breast Cancer: A Narrative Review. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: D-dimer dynamics represent a promising, accessible component of multimodal precision oncology, but should not independently diagnose progression, select anticancer therapy, or determine anticoagulation. Prospective multicentre studies are needed to standardize assays, validate trajectory-based thresholds, integrate D-dimer with multi-omics and artificial intelligence, and determine whether D-dimer-guided monitoring improves outcomes, particularly in resource-constrained settings and diverse African oncology populations globally appropriately.

- Target trial emulation of first-line ribociclib versus palbociclib in hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer: a comparative effectiveness study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Both co-primary analyses showed an association with longer overall survival for ribociclib, with attenuation in the calendar-restricted analysis (HR 0.90, 95% CI 0.82-0.99). These findings are hypothesis-generating, not evidence of superiority, and require randomized confirmation.

- Cytoplasmic Basigin Localization is Associated with EMT, Tumor Budding, and Adverse Prognosis in Breast Cancer. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Basigin subcellular redistribution is significantly associated with EMT-associated phenotypes, tumor budding, and adverse prognosis in breast cancer. Assessment of Basigin localization may provide additional prognostic value beyond conventional clinicopathological parameters. A nomogram integrating Basigin localization, tumor budding, histological grade, and molecular subtype may facilitate individualized risk stratification in patients with breast cancer, pending external validation in independent cohorts.

- Preoperative CA15-3 as a predictor of axillary lymph node metastasis and prognosis in women with breast cancer: a GRADE-assessed systematic review and meta-analysis. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Elevated preoperative CA15-3 is significantly associated with reduced survival and increased ALNM risk. This association remained significant after adjustment for tumor characteristics in most primary studies, suggesting CA15-3 may reflect more aggressive tumor biology. These findings support CA15-3's potential as an adjunctive biomarker; however, prospective validation is warranted.

- Pharmacological Myristoylation Inhibition by Zelenirstat Disrupts Growth Signalling, Energy Metabolism, and Migration in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In addition to the previously shown inhibitory effect of zelenirstat on TNBC cell growth in vitro and in vivo, our new data demonstrate the widespread effects of zelenirstat on both aggressive TNBC cells and BCSCs. These findings highlight the potential of zelenirstat as an anti-metastatic agent, warranting further clinical trial evaluation in patients with TNBC.
