- Environmental scan of Indigenous resources and culturally specific tools across intensive care units in Alberta, Canada. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Multiple gaps exist in the availability of critical-care-focused resources and supports for Indigenous Peoples experiencing critical illness in Alberta, Canada. Addressing these care gaps may improve health equity, access, and the experience for Indigenous patients and families during critical illness and further build trust and strengthen relationships with health care workers.

- Comparison of upper limb muscle activity and workload during intubation with the Macintosh direct laryngoscope versus C-MAC® and King Vision® videolaryngoscopes in simulated difficult airway scenarios: a randomized crossover trial. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: In simulated difficult airways, VL reduced upper limb muscle activity compared with DL. Nevertheless, perceived workload was higher with King Vision VL than with DL, whereas it was lower with C-MAC VL. Among the devices tested, C-MAC VL provided the most favorable ergonomic balance, combining reduced muscle strain, lower perceived workload, and highest first-attempt success rate across all airway scenarios.

- Pneumothorax rates following cardiac surgery with versus without continuous serratus anterior plane catheters: a secondary analysis of trial data with propensity score matching to a historic cohort. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Our data suggest that SAP catheter use as a part of a randomized trial for cardiac surgery was associated with a higher rate of pneumothorax in trial participants than in a historic cohort of a similar population, though causality is unclear. Differences in monitoring within the trial and the inherent risks in this population may have contributed.

- Association of preoperative hemoglobin levels with intraoperative hypotension: a retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Lower preoperative hemoglobin levels were significantly associated with an increased risk of IOH and longer postoperative length of hospital stay. These findings highlight the potential value of incorporating hemoglobin level assessments into IOH risk stratification and may help improve patient outcomes.

- Intraoperative ventilation settings in Germany: an observational multicentre cross-sectional study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: This large-scale clinical study of intraoperative ventilation settings in Germany found that most anesthesiologists already followed current recommendations. Therefore, for the entire cohort, no major improvements were observed. The educational intervention might improve ventilation settings in anesthesiology departments whose baseline practice deviates strongly from current recommendations.

- Comparative accuracy of lung ultrasound and chest radiography for pneumothorax detection after cardiac surgery: a feasibility pilot study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Novice-performed LUS was feasible, with high protocol adherence and image quality. Lung ultrasound showed high sensitivity and strong reliability for PTX detection in this feasibility pilot study. These findings support the need for larger, fully powered studies to evaluate diagnostic performance and clinical integration.
