- Maintenance therapy with low dose cyclophosphamide does not increase the risk of second malignancies: The European Pediatric Soft Tissue Sarcoma Study Group RMS2005 study experience. [Journal Article]Cancer. 2026 Nov 01; 132(21).C
- CONCLUSIONS: Maintenance chemotherapy was not associated with increased SMN risk. Genetic predisposition was a major contributor to SMN development, supporting risk-adapted survivorship care. Longer follow-up is required to evaluate late-occurring SMNs.

- Population-level diagnostic and radiation treatment trends of low-risk prostate cancer. [Journal Article]Cancer. 2026 Nov 01; 132(21).C
- CONCLUSIONS: Since 2010, low-risk PC has become less common at diagnosis, whereas diagnosed low-risk patients increasingly avoid treatment. Radiation for low-risk PC has markedly declined, paralleling surgical trends and reflecting a nationwide shift toward active surveillance.

- Body mass index at diagnosis, postdiagnosis change, and role of metabolic comorbidities in relation to survival in nonmetastatic renal cell carcinoma patients. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Postdiagnosis weight trajectory and metabolic health are important prognostic factors for nonmetastatic RCC. Weight stability and absence of diabetes were associated with more favorable outcomes. Incorporating repeated BMI measurements and diabetes status may improve risk stratification during RCC survivorship.

- Generative artificial intelligence in medical oncology: A clinically focused narrative review of large language, vision-language, and agentic artificial intelligence systems. [Review]Cancer. 2026 Nov 01; 132(21).C
- Rapid advances in cancer genetics and genomics, pathophysiology, diagnostics, and therapeutics have substantially increased the complexity of clinical oncology. Integrating large and diverse data streams into timely, patient-specific decisions provides a compelling rationale for incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into cancer care. Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) encompasses sev…

- Risk factors and outcome of children and young adults with initially unresected nonrhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcoma: An analysis from the International Soft Tissue Sarcoma Consortium. [Journal Article]Cancer. 2026 Nov 01; 132(21).C
- CONCLUSIONS: Outcomes were more favorable with the combination of chemotherapy and RT (pre- or postoperative) versus no RT for initially unresected NRSTS. Patients with large synovial sarcoma may benefit from contemporary trial designs incorporating more of a risk-based directed neoadjuvant chemotherapy and RT approach. Higher R0 margin status rates were achieved in protocols with specified preoperative RT, which resulted in improved outcomes.

- Non-small cell lung carcinoma and its mimics on cytology and small biopsy samples: a practical approach aligned with the WHO Reporting System. [Review]Cancer Cytopathol. 2026 Nov; 134(11):e70150.CC
- Accurate classification of lung tumors in cytology specimens and small biopsies remains a diagnostic challenge because of limited cellularity, preanalytical variables, and significant morphologic overlap among entities. This review summarizes key cytomorphologic characteristics and practical immunocytochemical strategies, and common diagnostic pitfalls encountered in the evaluation of non-small c…

- CONCLUSIONS: In IDH1+ aCCA, addition of immunotherapy to GemCis was associated with inferior rwOS. These findings support obtaining ctDNA-based CGP before initiating 1L therapy, and underscore the need for prospective studies.

- Cancer risks associated with BRCA1 and BRCA2: Overview and management. [Review]Cancer. 2026 Oct 15; 132(20):e70635.C
- The BRCA1 and BRCA2 tumor suppressor genes are integral to the repair of DNA double-strand breaks. Therefore, germline pathogenic variants (PVs) in either of these genes are associated with an increased risk of developing hereditary cancers. For over 30 years, studies have demonstrated a well established and markedly increased lifetime risk of female breast cancer and ovarian cancer for individua…
