  • Complex arrhythmias in the absence of severe valvulitis: a paediatric case of acute rheumatic fever. [Journal Article]
    Cardiol Young. 2026 Oct 30; :1-4. [Online ahead of print]Çaran B, Sulu A, … Gul OCY
  • A 15-year-old boy was admitted to the emergency department with arthralgia of the knee. He was diagnosed with acute rheumatic fever based on clinical examination, electrocardiography, echocardiography, and elevated inflammatory markers including C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and anti-streptolysin O titre. First-degree and second-degree Mobitz type 1 atrioventricular blocks, …
  • Analysis of early surgical outcomes in adolescent and adult patients undergoing repair for tetralogy of Fallot. [Journal Article]
Cardiol Young. 2026 Oct 30; :1-6. [Online ahead of print]Das D, Barsainyan KP, … Chattopadhyay ACY
  • CONCLUSIONS: Primary repair of tetralogy of Fallot in late-presenting adolescents and adults can be performed with low early mortality and acceptable morbidity. Careful pre-operative assessment, including identification and management of significant aortopulmonary collaterals, and individualised right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction are important components of management. These findings support definitive repair in appropriately selected late-presenting patients.
  • Tumour-anchored Purkinje-mediated ventricular tachycardia in a child with cardiac rhabdomyoma. [Journal Article]
Cardiol Young. 2026 Oct 30; :1-4. [Online ahead of print]Izumi G, Sasaki D, Temma TCY
  • Cardiac rhabdomyomas are associated with ventricular arrhythmias, but mechanisms remain uncertain. A 10-year-old boy with tuberous sclerosis complex developed verapamil-sensitive fascicular ventricular tachycardia adjacent to a residual cardiac rhabdomyoma. Electrophysiological mapping demonstrated Purkinje-mediated reentry. Catheter ablation at a tumour-adjacent site eliminated the arrhythmia, s…
  • Successful transcatheter treatment of chronic mechanical haemolysis after cardiac surgery: a case report. [Journal Article]
    Cardiol Young. 2026 Oct 28; :1-3. [Online ahead of print]Schupp N, Logeswaran T, … Jux CCY
  • Chronic haemolysis is a rare but important postsurgical complication in children with congenital heart defects. A 13-year-old with a previously uncorrected complex heart defect underwent corrective surgery. He developed haemolysis postoperatively. A mechanical cause due to turbulent flow through a narrowed intraventricular Dacron patch tunnel was suspected. Balloon dilatation and stent placement …
  • Spontaneous inversion of the left atrial appendage: a first autopsy case report and updated literature review. [Journal Article]
    Cardiol Young. 2026 Oct 28; :1-3. [Online ahead of print]Wathek T, Nouma Y, … Harzallah HCY
  • CONCLUSIONS: This case, placed alongside an updated review of the literature from 2020 to 2024, reinforces a simple but easily forgotten message: spontaneous left atrial appendage inversion can occur at any age, even in infants with no surgical history. A pressure gradient across the appendage wall, most often driven by pericardial effusion, appears to be the decisive pathophysiological trigger.
