- A rare giant large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma: an ITMIG Tumor Board case report from a Turkish multidisciplinary team. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: LCNEC is an exceptionally rare subtype, accounting for only a very small proportion of all thymic epithelial tumors. Given the aggressive course of LCNEC and its potential for both local invasion and distant metastasis, a multimodal treatment approach is required. This treatment sequence represents a rational strategy consistent with previous studies advocating combined-modality management for advanced or recurrent thymic malignancies.

- Very late recurrence of thymoma after 14 years: an International Thymic Malignancy Interest Group Tumor Board case report from a Turkish multidisciplinary team. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: In thymic epithelial tumors with increased risk of recurrence, multimodal treatment strategies may improve long-term outcomes. This case highlights that very late recurrence may occur even after R0 resection and supports lifelong surveillance. Long-term follow-up should include periodic contrast-enhanced thoracic computed tomography, with magnetic resonance imaging considered in younger patients to reduce cumulative radiation exposure.

- Invasive thymoma with rapid response to cisplatin, doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide (PAC) chemotherapy, after an early postoperative recurrence-a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates the diagnostic complexity of thymoma, including atypical radiological and pathological features together with an unusually aggressive early recurrence. Incomplete resection can lead to early recurrence and progression, and clinicians must remain vigilant for such atypical courses. The tumor nonetheless proved highly sensitive to chemotherapy, underscoring the importance of prompt systemic treatment intervention when recurrence occurs.

- Cryoablation as a downsizing strategy enabling R0 resection in a giant mediastinal desmoid tumor: a case report. [Case Reports]Mediastinum. 2026; 10:31.M
- CONCLUSIONS: In this case, cryoablation was associated with marked tumor downsizing and a major pathological response, facilitating reconsideration of surgical resection in a tumor initially deemed unresectable. This approach may represent a potential component of multimodal management in carefully selected patients, although further evidence is needed to confirm its role.

- Aberrant malignant invasive thymoma presenting as isolated left internal jugular vein thrombosis.and resected by VATS thymectomy: a case report. [Case Reports]Mediastinum. 2026; 10:30.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Malignant thymoma arising from an aberrant accessory left lobe behind the innominate vein can present as isolated internal jugular vein thrombosis. It can be resected safely by a "no-touch, tumour last" VATS oncological technique.

- Salvage resection via a trans-manubrial approach after definitive chemoradiotherapy for initially unresectable thymic carcinoma in the superior mediastinum: a case report. [Case Reports]Mediastinum. 2026; 10:29.M
- CONCLUSIONS: Salvage resection after chemoradiotherapy for initially unresectable thymic carcinoma may be feasible and potentially curative in carefully selected patients. This case highlights both the usefulness of a trans-manubrial approach for superior mediastinal lesions and the challenges in accurately assessing a residual disease after chemoradiotherapy.

- Long-term remission of neuromyelitis optica with allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: AlloHCT induced durable, treatment-free remission over more than 15 years in two patients with highly refractory NMO spectrum disorder (NMOSD), accompanied by sustained clearance of pathogenic AQP4-IgG antibodies. This long-term disease control paralleled stable donor-derived immune reconstitution, notably with expansion and remodeling of regulatory T cells, providing a rationale for hypothesizing a mechanistic link to immune tolerance. These findings provide proof of concept that alloHCT can achieve deep, potentially curative disease modification in selected NMO cases, warranting further studies to better define patient selection, safety, and long-term benefit.

- A window to breathe again. [Case Reports]Med. 2026 Jun 12; 7(6):101072.MED
- In this Backstory, the authors recount how a 10-year-old girl with rapidly progressive MDA5-positive dermatomyositis survived fulminant lung failure on ECMO and received compassionate-use CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T therapy. The interdisciplinary team then followed her immune reconstitution and clinical recovery, ultimately supporting discharge and offering a potential blueprint for pe…

- A single-cell solution to a transplant mystery. [Case Reports]Med. 2026 May 08; 7(5):101079.MED
- In this Backstory, the authors recount how tailored single-cell sequencing solved a diagnostic puzzle in a young woman who developed myelodysplastic neoplasm after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Conventional diagnostics could not determine whether the mutant clone was donor- or recipient-derived. Combining transcriptome profiling with targeted U2AF1 enrichment pinpointed the …

- Immune dysregulation in thymoma: a potential mechanistic link to secondary lung cancer-a case report. [Case Reports]Mediastinum. 2026; 10:15.M
- CONCLUSIONS: This case highlights a potential mechanistic link between thymic-associated immune dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and secondary malignancies. Recognition of this relationship is important for clinical management, long-term surveillance, and therapeutic decision-making in patients with thymoma. Future studies are warranted to further define the oncogenic consequences of thymic dysfunction and its implications for cancer development.

- CD19 CAR-T therapy induces remission in refractory autoimmune hemolytic anemia with ITP and antiphospholipid syndrome. [Case Reports]Med. 2026 May 08; 7(5):101075.MED
- CONCLUSIONS: This case demonstrates that CD19-directed CAR-T cell therapy can induce rapid, durable remission of severe, refractory cold-agglutinin AIHA and simultaneously improve coexisting APLAS and ITP on a favorable toxicity profile. However, more data from controlled clinical trials are needed for final conclusions.

- In this Backstory, the authors describe how a multidisciplinary team used epidural electrical stimulation, custom orthoses, and personalized rehabilitation to help a man with a severe spinal cord injury walk again. Their patient-centered approach enabled him to achieve significant milestones, including walking outdoors on snow, highlighting the impact of tailored neurorehabilitation.

- Spleen metastasis as rare systemic manifestation of thymoma: a case report. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: Metastatic splenic disease from a thymoma, further complicated by development of Good's syndrome is extremely rare and hitherto never described before. To anticipate possible infectious complications in patients with newly diagnosed thymoma, we advise to routinely check immunoglobulin levels in these patients.
