  • Reducing Nuclear Rupture Rescues Gene Expression and Survival in LMNA-DCM. [Journal Article]
Circ Res. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]Zuela-Sopilniak N, Morival JLP, … Lammerding JCircR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our findings support a model in which nuclear envelope rupture in cKO cardiomyocytes triggers cytosolic DNA sensing pathways and maladaptive cell-cell communication with fibroblasts and immune cells, driving inflammation, fibrosis, and cardiac dysfunction. The work presented here points to novel strategies for treating LMNA-dilated cardiomyopathy.
  • Neural Mechanisms of Heart-Lung Crosstalk in Chronic Heart Failure. [Journal Article]
Circ Res. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]Hong J, Gillman S, … Wang HJCircR
  • CONCLUSIONS: These findings identify a neural inflammatory cascade involving cytokine uptake, glial activation, and macrophage activation as a contributor to cardiopulmonary afferent sensitization after MI. Targeting DRG inflammation, particularly with sustained dexamethasone delivery using ProGel-Dex, offers a prospect of precision medicine to dampen pathological sympathetic activation and improve cardiac outcomes in chronic heart failure.
  • Calpain-Dependent Protein Degradation Contributes to CASQ2-R33Q CPVT. [Journal Article]
Circ Res. 2026 Sep 22. [Online ahead of print]Ramos-Hernández L, Santiago DJ, … Lara-Pezzi ECircR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Couplon protein loss in CPVT associated with CASQ2-R33Q is mediated by coordinated but distinct proteolytic pathways, with calpain-dependent TRDN degradation representing a key pathogenic event that promotes CASQ2 destabilization and arrhythmogenesis.
  • Obesity Increases Atherosclerosis Susceptibility via an Intertissue miR-30e-SLC7A11 Axis. [Journal Article]
Circ Res. 2026 Sep 11. [Online ahead of print]Wang C, She J, … Yuan ZYCircR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our multiomics approaches demonstrate that the adipose-derived miR-30e-5p downregulated SLC7A11 mRNA in ECs via tissue crosstalk. The resulting EC dysfunction led to obesity-related atherosclerosis in mice. These findings underscore a causality between obesity and atherosclerosis in the context of cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome.
