  • Changing National and Regional Trends in Drug Use-Associated Infective Endocarditis From 2016 to 2022. [Journal Article]
Clin Infect Dis. 2026 Oct 27. [Online ahead of print]Christine PJ, Fabricant S, … Kimmel SDCI
  • CONCLUSIONS: Drug use-associated infective endocarditis epidemiology is shifting, with overall hospitalizations declining but stimulant use emerging as a key driver, particularly in the Western United States. Current harm reduction and treatment efforts may be reducing DUA-IE hospitalizations, but targeted strategies addressing stimulant use are urgently needed.
  • Geographic Differences Among Tetanus Cases-United States, 2009-2023. [Journal Article]
Clin Infect Dis. 2026 Oct 22. [Online ahead of print]Amin AB, Rubis AB, Hughes MMCI
  • CONCLUSIONS: Rurality and increased health insurance vulnerability were associated with higher tetanus incidence. Geographic differences in access to vaccination, environmental exposures, and timely and quality post-wound care may contribute to these differences. Barriers to tetanus vaccination and timely post-wound care, particularly in rural areas, could be explored in future work.
  • Disseminated Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Disease in NEMO and Iκbα Defects. [Journal Article]
Clin Infect Dis. 2026 Oct 22. [Online ahead of print]Wang C, Rivera AE, … Holland SMCI
  • Disseminated nontuberculous mycobacterial disease is a severe complication of NEMO (IKBKG) and IκBα (NFKBIA) defects. It may present in adulthood, and diagnosis was often delayed. Despite intensive multidrug therapy and adjunctive IFN-γ, treatment responses were frequently inadequate. Hematopoietic cell transplantation may offer immune reconstitution but carries risks.
