- A case of lupus nephritis in an art student. [Case Reports]Clin Nephrol Case Stud. 2026; 14:58-62.CN
- Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease that can be triggered by environmental factors. We report a novel case of a 22-year-old female that was exposed to volatile organic solvents (VOCs) while diluting oil-based paint colors prior to presenting with nephrotic syndrome and acute kidney injury, later confirmed as class IV lupus nephritis (LN). Multidisciplinary managemen…

- New-onset lupus nephritis and neuropsychiatric lupus following COVID-19 vaccination: A case report. [Case Reports]Clin Nephrol Case Stud. 2026; 14:63-68.CN
- Although COVID-19 mRNA vaccines have demonstrated excellent safety profiles, rare autoimmune complications - including new-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis (LN) - have been reported. We describe a case of new-onset class IV LN with neuropsychiatric lupus (NPSLE) occurring shortly after COVID-19 vaccination in a previously healthy adult. This case highlights a rare pres…

- Isolated primary glucosuria without SGLT2 mutation: A case report. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: This uncommon presentation of long-standing isolated glucosuria without SLC5A2 mutations highlights the need for broader genetic assessment, potentially whole-exome sequencing and enriched understanding of alternative renal glucose transport mechanisms.

- Analytical validation of an ELISA-based test kit for polymeric IgA immune complexes in IgA nephropathy. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Sep 22. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: The ELISA-based Poly-IgA test kit was analytically validated and demonstrated good diagnostic performance in differentiating IgAN from nKD in a two-center cohort. Although its specificity of 76% is insufficient to replace kidney biopsy as the diagnostic gold standard, the assay may serve as a promising non-invasive adjunctive tool to support clinical decision-making, particularly for screening and disease monitoring. In light of these limitations, including the relatively small sample size, prospective multicenter studies in larger and more diverse populations are warranted to further establish its clinical utility.

- Fracture incidence and mortality in kidney transplant recipients compared with waitlisted dialysis patients: A single-center retrospective analysis. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Sep 08. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: KTRs have a fracture risk comparable to that of dialysis patients, and fractures were not significantly associated with mortality. The survival benefits of KT are driven by factors other than fracture-related complications. Ongoing, proactive bone health management remains essential in KTRs because transplantation does not eliminate the elevated fracture risk.

- Associations of life's crucial 9 and its components with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in diabetic kidney disease patients. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 31. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: High LC9 scores were associated with lower odds of all-cause and CVD-related mortality, suggesting that incremental improvements in modifiable factors may be beneficial to the prognosis of DKD patients.

- Retrospective analysis of the effects of peritoneal dialysis modes, initial doses, and frequencies on residual renal function and quality of life in patients initiating peritoneal dialysis. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 31. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: Initial low-dose CAPD and daytime PD were associated with different residual urine-volume trajectories while dialysis adequacy was maintained. No symptom-burden benefit was demonstrated. Given the non-randomized design, baseline imbalance, limited adjustment for treatment selection, and use of urine volume as a surrogate, these findings are exploratory and require prospective confirmation.

- Role of platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio in predicting augmented renal clearance following intracerebral hemorrhage surgery. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 31. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative low PLR is significantly associated with the early occurrence of ARC and serves as an independent predictor for ARC.

- Efficacy and safety of henagliflozin in IgA nephropathy: A real-world observational study from China. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 31. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: Henagliflozin demonstrated significant albuminuria- and UA-lowering effects over 12 weeks in Chinese IgAN patients. With renal-metabolic benefits and favorable safety, henagliflozin is emerging as an encouraging therapeutic option for IgAN.

- Investigating the role of urinary electrolyte parameters in the differential diagnosis of hypokalemia. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 25. [Online ahead of print]CN
- CONCLUSIONS: Vomiting-related UGI disorders and RTDs both cause normotensive hypokalemia with renal K[+] wasting. Notably, vomiting-related UGI disorders predominantly affect females with lower BMI and may be complicated by prerenal acute kidney injury (AKI). Serum Cl[-] measurement serves as a valuable initial screening tool for suspected UGI disorders. Urinary K[+] excretion markers have limited diagnostic value, and comprehensive urinary electrolyte analysis is required. Among all evaluated parameters, spot urine Cl[-] concentration demonstrates the highest diagnostic performance.

- Medium cut-off hemodialysis in multiple myeloma-associated cast nephropathy: A single-center experience. [Case Reports]
- CONCLUSIONS: This case series describes the real-world implementation of MCO hemodialysis in dialysis-dependent CN. Although substantial early FLC reduction was observed, renal recovery varied and appeared to be influenced by multiple clinical factors.

- Crystalline κ light-chain proximal tubulopathy and Auer rod-like inclusions presenting as Fanconi syndrome: A case report. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 18. [Online ahead of print]CN
- We report the case of a 53-year-old man who presented with Fanconi syndrome as the initial clinical manifestation. Laboratory findings included hypokalemia, hypophosphatemia, mild metabolic acidosis, and renal glucosuria. Kidney biopsy revealed crystalline light-chain proximal tubulopathy (LCPT) with κ-restricted light-chain deposition in proximal tubular epithelial cells. Bone marrow examination…

- Association between perioperative diuretic use and postoperative outcomes following Mohs micrographic surgery. [Journal Article]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Aug 18. [Online ahead of print]CN
- Patients undergoing Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) on perioperative diuretics represent a medically complex population, yet the impact of diuretic use on postoperative outcomes remains underexplored. Despite use in patients with cardiometabolic comorbidities, limited research has evaluated how perioperative diuretic exposure influences postoperative outcomes following MMS. This study investigate…

- Beyond erythropoiesis-stimulating agents: The evolving role of hypoxia-inducible factor stabilizers in anemia of chronic kidney disease. [Review]Clin Nephrol. 2026 Oct; 106(4):299-314.CN
- Anemia is one of the most common complications affecting individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD). It is driven primarily by relative erythropoietin (EPO) deficiency, chronic inflammation, and altered iron metabolism. Emerging therapies, known as hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors (HIF-PHIs), offer a novel oral treatment approach by stabilizing intracellular HIF levels to…

- CONCLUSIONS: These findings support the non-monoclonal nature of most mIgA cases, with no detectable clones at baseline or follow-up. Larger studies using advanced detection techniques are needed to clarify clonal risk and guide optimal therapy.
