  • Occlusal byte and Mézières postural therapy improve pain and performance in elite rhythmic gymnasts with low back pain. [Journal Article]
Complement Ther Med. 2026 Sep; 100:103406.Qorri E, Todri J, Lena OCT
  • CONCLUSIONS: Six months of Mézières-based postural therapy were associated with significant improvements in pain, function, flexibility, and quality of life in rhythmic gymnasts with low back pain. However, in the absence of a non-intervention control group, these improvements may be partially influenced by non-specific or placebo effects. The addition of an occlusal bite device did not produce consistent additional benefits across outcomes. Further controlled studies are needed to determine the specific efficacy of these interventions.
  • Effects of laughter therapy in patients with cancer: A systematic review of randomized clinical trials. [Systematic Review]
    Complement Ther Med. 2026 Sep; 100:103399.Villalba-Ugarte FP, Sandoval-Ato RH, … Goicochea-Lugo SCT
  • CONCLUSIONS: Laughter therapy probably reduces anxiety and may reduce pain and stress in patients with cancer. However, these findings should be interpreted considering limitations related to risk of bias, heterogeneity among interventions, and imprecision due to small sample sizes. Further high-quality RCTs are needed to confirm these findings and compare different modalities of laughter therapy.
  • Manual therapy treatment mechanisms are complex: Challenges and a call to action. [Journal Article]
Complement Ther Med. 2026 Sep; 100:103393.Cook CE, Keter D, … Reed WRCT
  • Treatment mechanisms reflect the underlying processes or pathways through which a treatment or intervention produces its effects on an outcome. For force-based manipulations (which include manual therapies), treatment mechanisms have been measured in multiple animal and preclinical studies. In this commentary, we argue that measuring treatment mechanisms of force-based manipulation is highly comp…
