Preexisting ocular surface disease identifies a high-risk subgroup. Early ophthalmologic evaluation and timely referral are essential to prevent irreversible ocular surface damage and vision loss.

- CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that topical insulin drops are a safe and affordable treatment option for ocular surface diseases, particularly for NK eyes with and without PED. Further prospective clinical trials, however, are needed to confirm the efficacy and define the place of topical insulin in standardized treatment protocols.

- CONCLUSIONS: The TGFBI dystrophy secondary to the p.Met619Lys mutation is associated with recurrence of visually significant dystrophic deposits in the posterior stroma after DALK. Given the need for PK only 5 years after DALK in the cases that we report, we recommend genetic testing in individuals in whom a variant TGFBI corneal dystrophy is suspected, and the conversion to PK instead of DALK for such individuals if intraoperative baring of Descemet membrane cannot be achieved.

- CONCLUSIONS: CPA is associated with a unique, depth-specific corneal morphometric phenotype characterized by central stromal hypoplasia and thickening of anterior and posterior layers. These findings are likely because of the absence of embryonic lens impairing normal corneal morphogenesis. Layer-specific AS-OCT analysis refines CPA phenotype and supports clinical decision making.

- CONCLUSIONS: Intronic regulatory variants of GRHL2 can cause familial posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy (PPCD) with marked phenotypic variability. This is the first report of the c.20 + 544G > C variant and the second implicating the same intronic position in PPCD, underscoring the diagnostic importance of this hotspot and the need to include regulatory regions in targeted genetic testing for PPCD.
