- Prophylactic high-flow nasal oxygen vs. conventional oxygen for prevention of postoperative respiratory complications: a randomized trial. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: In older adults undergoing lung resection, prophylactic HFNC reduced in-hospital PPC burden and was associated with more favorable early postoperative respiratory recovery. These findings suggest that prophylactic HFNC may provide benefit as a potential preventive respiratory support option in selected older or higher-risk postoperative patients, although routine prophylactic use in all patients undergoing lung resection is not supported by the present findings.

- Prehospital transport prioritization and time-varying selection bias in traffic-related multi-patient incidents: a nationwide retrospective cohort study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The association between priority transport and severe outcome was modified by on-scene time, with the largest risk difference at the shortest on-scene times. This U-shaped pattern is consistent with preferential selection of more severely injured patients for rapid transport, rather than a direct effect of transport order. Accounting for prehospital triage selection when interpreting transport-outcome associations in critical care research.

- Palliative and end-of-life care on the battlefield: a scoping review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Pain management in combat is a well-researched field, but one that is rarely examined in the specific context of end-of-life care. Similarly, there is a notable gap in the literature regarding palliative care in a combat context. Where such topics are addressed, they are often simply a transposition of civilian data. The lack of training and doctrinal guidance prevents the proper integration of this specialized care, which aims to ensure dignity for dying combatants and to reflect the values upon which military medicine is founded.

- Polymyxin B hemoadsorption in endotoxic septic shock: ten questions on the Tigris trial. [Journal Article]
- The Tigris trial recently reported that polymyxin B hemoadsorption (PMX) achieved a high posterior probability of benefit for mortality in adults with endotoxic septic shock (endotoxemia with multiple organ failure). The trial used a Bayesian framework with a prior derived from a subgroup of an earlier trial (EUPHRATES) and this subgroup was used to design eligibility criteria for Tigris. Ten que…

- Comparison of two automated pupillometry indices in patients with acute brain injury: the prospective multicentre LYNX cohort study. [Multicenter Study]
- CONCLUSIONS: NPi and QPi were correlated and both predicted 6-month outcome, but QPi was far more sensitive to anaesthetics, which probably confounds its association with intracranial hypertension. The indices are not interchangeable in sedated critically ill patients.
