- Body mass index at diagnosis, postdiagnosis change, and role of metabolic comorbidities in relation to survival in nonmetastatic renal cell carcinoma patients. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Postdiagnosis weight trajectory and metabolic health are important prognostic factors for nonmetastatic RCC. Weight stability and absence of diabetes were associated with more favorable outcomes. Incorporating repeated BMI measurements and diabetes status may improve risk stratification during RCC survivorship.

- Generative artificial intelligence in medical oncology: A clinically focused narrative review of large language, vision-language, and agentic artificial intelligence systems. [Review]Cancer. 2026 Nov 01; 132(21).C
- Rapid advances in cancer genetics and genomics, pathophysiology, diagnostics, and therapeutics have substantially increased the complexity of clinical oncology. Integrating large and diverse data streams into timely, patient-specific decisions provides a compelling rationale for incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into cancer care. Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) encompasses sev…

- Risk factors and outcome of children and young adults with initially unresected nonrhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcoma: An analysis from the International Soft Tissue Sarcoma Consortium. [Journal Article]Cancer. 2026 Nov 01; 132(21).C
- CONCLUSIONS: Outcomes were more favorable with the combination of chemotherapy and RT (pre- or postoperative) versus no RT for initially unresected NRSTS. Patients with large synovial sarcoma may benefit from contemporary trial designs incorporating more of a risk-based directed neoadjuvant chemotherapy and RT approach. Higher R0 margin status rates were achieved in protocols with specified preoperative RT, which resulted in improved outcomes.

- A WSI-Independent Inference Framework for Cervical and Urinary Cytology Using Hierarchical Labels. [Journal Article]Cytopathology. 2026 Oct 20. [Online ahead of print]C
- CONCLUSIONS: CYTOLONE-v2 demonstrates the technical feasibility of extending a hierarchical cytology classification framework from cervical to urinary cytology. The findings are limited to selected WSI-derived fields and a Reactive change-versus-Urothelial carcinoma test cohort; external, case-level, direct-microscopy and prospective workflow validation is required before clinical utility can be established.

- CONCLUSIONS: In IDH1+ aCCA, addition of immunotherapy to GemCis was associated with inferior rwOS. These findings support obtaining ctDNA-based CGP before initiating 1L therapy, and underscore the need for prospective studies.

- Cancer risks associated with BRCA1 and BRCA2: Overview and management. [Review]Cancer. 2026 Oct 15; 132(20):e70635.C
- The BRCA1 and BRCA2 tumor suppressor genes are integral to the repair of DNA double-strand breaks. Therefore, germline pathogenic variants (PVs) in either of these genes are associated with an increased risk of developing hereditary cancers. For over 30 years, studies have demonstrated a well established and markedly increased lifetime risk of female breast cancer and ovarian cancer for individua…

- Unravelling A Rare Diagnosis: Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis. [Case Reports]Cytopathology. 2026 Oct 14. [Online ahead of print]C
- Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is a rare disorder characterized by abnormal accumulation of surfactant within the alveoli, leading to impaired gas exchange and progressive respiratory symptoms. We report a 40-year-old stone grinder presenting with chronic cough, dyspnea, weight loss and hypoxemia. High-resolution computed tomography showed bilateral ground-glass opacities, while bronchoalve…

- Perivascular epithelioid cell tumours (PEComas) are rare mesenchymal neoplasms with characteristic myomelanocytic differentiation and limited descriptions in fine-needle aspiration (FNA) specimens. A woman in her 30s with a history of ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma in remission was found to have a 2.1-cm hepatic mass during evaluation of persistent liver function abnormalities. - Evolving role of proton therapy in contemporary oncology. [Review]
- Proton therapy offers a distinct physical advantage over photon radiotherapy through the Bragg peak dose concentration in target with both lower integral dose and finite path length, and sharper penumbra as compared to photons, collectively reducing radiation exposure to surrounding normal tissues and potentially improving the therapeutic ratio. However, this advantage is tempered by uncertaintie…
