- Self-management strategies for symptom burden in primary biliary cholangitis are associated with improved health-related quality of life. [Journal Article]Dig Dis. 2026 Oct 20; :1. [Online ahead of print]DD
- Introduction PBC patients can experience severe morbidity and extrahepatic symptoms leading to impaired HRQoL; it is proposed that this is due to symptom burdens rather than disease morbidity. There are few medical interventions for PBC symptoms. Many patients rely on self-management strategies to improve symptom burden. However, there is limited research exploring the prevalence and impact of PB…

- Single Jaundice in Cirrhosis: A Neglected Acute Decompensation of Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure and Mortality. [Multicenter Study]J Dig Dis. 2026 Jul-Aug; 27(7-8):323-333.JD
- CONCLUSIONS: Cirrhotic inpatients with single jaundice show comparably high short-term mortality and ACLF risk to those with classical AD. Single jaundice shall be considered as an AD event and is predominantly triggered by intrahepatic insults, warranting surveillance equivalent to classical AD and prioritized management of the precipitants.

- A patient with ulcerative colitis presented with progressive memory impairment and alexia, with brain imaging showing a mass-like lesion mimicking glioma. Histopathology confirmed central nervous system (CNS) vasculitis. The patient's memory and reading ability improved and finally recovered following corticosteroid treatment, with no recurrence during the long-term follow-up. The case report and…

- CONCLUSIONS: GI cancer incidence trajectories are highly heterogeneous. The projected rise in pancreatic and early-onset CRCs signals urgent needs for targeted prevention, risk-factor modification, and improved early detection strategies in at-risk populations.

- CONCLUSIONS: Despite substantial declines in age-standardized mortality and DALY rates, absolute CRC burden in G20 countries has increased dramatically over 3 decades, driven by population growth and aging. Projected increases to 2030 necessitate strengthened primary prevention and expanded screening coverage.

- Saccharomyces boulardii as an Adjunct to Helicobacter pylori Eradication Therapy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Systematic Review]J Dig Dis. 2026 Jul-Aug; 27(7-8):270-286.JD
- CONCLUSIONS: S. boulardii modestly improves H. pylori eradication-particularly with triple therapy-and substantially mitigates gastrointestinal adverse events. Concurrent dosing of 5 × 10[9]-1 × 10[10] CFU/day for 10-14 days appears to be a reasonable and pragmatic regimen.

- Sex- and Smoking-Specific Association between Physical Activity and Digestive Cancer Risk. [Journal Article]Dig Dis. 2026 Sep 15; :1. [Online ahead of print]DD
- CONCLUSIONS: A nonlinear, U-shaped pattern of association was observed between PA frequency and digestive cancer risk. These associations were most pronounced in men and in individuals who had never smoked. However, most observed effect sizes were modest, and the findings should be interpreted cautiously given the potential for residual confounding and exposure misclassification.

- The 30-Year Trends of Gastric Cancer Attributable to Smoking in China and Japan: Demographic Decomposition and Age-Period-Cohort Analysis. [Journal Article]Dig Dis. 2026 Sep 12; :1. [Online ahead of print]DD
- CONCLUSIONS: From 1992 to 2021, China showed higher risk than Japan in smoking-attributable GC mortality. Therefore, China should learn from Japan's strategies for GC screening and implement more effective tobacco control policies, particularly among earlier birth cohorts and males.
