  • Antibiotic Treatment of Severe Infections with Multiresistant Bacteria. [Practice Guideline]
Dtsch Arztebl Int. 2026 Nov 13; 123(23). [Online ahead of print]Gatermann SG, Becker K, … AWMF Guideline GroupDA

  • The Detection of Atrial Fibrillation by Implantable Event Recorders: A Study of Patients Who Have Had a Cryptogenic Stroke. [Journal Article]
    Dtsch Arztebl Int. 2026 Nov 13; 123(23). [Online ahead of print]Wagner F, Günther A, … Klinner CDA
  • CONCLUSIONS: Early, risk-adapted diagnostic testing with ILR in selected ESUS patients can detect clinically relevant AF. Advanced age and an elevated SRA index may be useful patient selection criteria. A robust number needed to treat (NNT) for the ILR strategy cannot be derived from the available one-armed registry data. The indication for ILR should be linked to its therapeutic relevance, the probability of detecting AF, and the individual hemorrhagic risk.
  • Sex-Specific Injury Patterns and Clinical Course After Suspected Violent Crime: An Analysis of Data From the TraumaRegister DGU. [Journal Article]
    Dtsch Arztebl Int. 2026 Oct 30; 123(22). [Online ahead of print]Ellafi A, Reiter K, … Bohe ODA
  • CONCLUSIONS: Our analysis reveals marked sex-specific differences in the pattern and outcome of injuries due to violent crime. Men are more commonly affected, but women sustain more severe injuries and have a higher mortality and worse outcomes. There is an urgent need for preventive measures and for sex-specific approaches to treatment, with appropriate training for doctors and nurses, because hospitals play a key role in the acute care of victims of sex-specific violence.
