- Concordance between magnetoencephalography and intracranial EEG and association with surgical outcomes in MRI-negative epilepsy. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 28; 228:107952. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: MEG identified localizing interictal abnormalities in approximately two-thirds of this selected cohort of patients with MRI-negative DRE. When MEG was localizing and an iEEG-defined SOZ was identified, lobar-level concordance was common. Because MEG could inform invasive evaluation, these findings reflect concordance within an MEG-informed clinical workflow rather than independent validation against iEEG. Surgical outcome and histopathology associations were exploratory and will need to be validated in larger cohorts.

- Exploring Korean adolescents' perceptions of epilepsy-related stigma in the general population: Changes over the past decade and influential factors. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 23; 228:107934. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Knowledge remains the dominant correlate of lower stigma, yet better knowledge alone has not translated into correspondingly less stigmatizing attitudes. Approaches that produce a genuine reduction in stigma, rather than improvements in stated attitudes alone, are therefore needed.

- Interictal epileptic discharge > 1% associated with cognitive impairment in adult patients with epilepsy: A cross-sectional study based on dose-response relationship and discharge characteristics. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 17; 228:107938. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: A sleep IED index > 1% may represent a candidate electrophysiological marker of domain-specific cognitive vulnerability, whereas a wakefulness threshold and clear regional specificity were not definitively established. These findings support vigilance-state-aware quantification of IED burden while highlighting the need for larger longitudinal studies with detailed medication profiling.

- Knowledge, self-management, and health-related quality of life among Omani adults with generalized epilepsy: A cross-sectional study. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 22; 228:107947. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Omani adults with epilepsy exhibit poor knowledge, only acceptable self-management skills, and low HR-QoL. The positive association between knowledge and HR-QoL highlights the need to strengthen epilepsy-related education. Culturally tailored educational and self-management support for patients, families, and the wider public is required to improve knowledge, optimize self-management, and enhance HR-QoL in Oman.

- Cannabidiol in pediatric drug-resistant epilepsies: A systematic review and meta-analysis of seizure responder rates and neurobehavioral outcome reporting. [Review]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 15; 228:107935. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Approximately half of children with drug-resistant epilepsies treated with adjunctive cannabidiol achieve a ≥ 50% seizure reduction in the available, predominantly observational literature; randomized trials suggest a somewhat lower proportion, and long-term estimates are likely inflated by selective retention. The literature remains strongly seizure-centered, while cognitive and behavioral outcomes are inconsistently assessed and poorly standardized. Future pediatric CBD studies should incorporate harmonized longitudinal follow-up and standardized neurodevelopmental outcome measures alongside seizure outcomes.

- Impact of entry trajectory angle-to-skull on electrode placement accuracy in robot-assisted stereoelectroencephalography. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 14; 228:107933. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Trajectory-to-skull angle is a key geometric determinant of electrode placement accuracy in robot-assisted SEEG. Quantitative angle thresholds identified in this study provide practical guidance for trajectory planning and may help minimize mechanical deviation, improve implantation safety, and enhance the reliability of seizure-network localization.

- Contralateral piriform cortex alterations after surgery for temporal lobe epilepsy: A pilot MRI volumetry study. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 17; 228:107937. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: In this hypothesis-generating pilot cohort, contralateral PCA volume decreased after epilepsy surgery, whereas the PASL-derived signal-intensity measure did not show a corresponding group-level change. These observations do not establish a surgery-induced network mechanism and require confirmation in larger controlled longitudinal cohorts.

- Efficacy of Lactobacillus reuteri as an adjunctive therapy for seizure control and quality of life in pediatric drug-resistant epilepsy: A prospective interventional study. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 15; 228:107936. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: In this single-arm before-after study, statistically significant within-participant changes in HRQOL and seizure frequency were observed during the 12-week period following adjunctive L. reuteri supplementation. However, the absolute magnitude of these changes was modest and their clinical significance remains uncertain. Because there was no concurrent placebo control group, the observed changes cannot be attributed specifically to L. reuteri supplementation. Larger, adequately powered placebo-controlled randomized trials are needed to determine whether L. reuteri provides a clinically meaningful benefit in pediatric drug-resistant epilepsy.

- Does delayed removal of stereo-EEG electrodes following radiofrequency thermocoagulation increase haemorrhage? [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 14; 228:107932. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Delayed removal of electrodes post-RF-TC allows assessment of response to RFA and the opportunity for further thermocoagulation if necessary. This exploratory study found no significant increase in haemorrhage volume with delayed electrode removal following RF-TC but a larger study would be required to definitively estimate haemorrhage risk.

- Indoor environmental conditions and interictal epileptiform discharge frequency during pediatric video-EEG monitoring. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 06; 228:107930. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Pediatric epilepsy patients exhibit marked, highly individualized bidirectional sensitivities to ambient temperature and humidity despite a uniform group-level circadian rhythm in cortical excitability. These findings underscore the importance of personalized environmental monitoring in epilepsy management.

- Response to: "Early benzodiazepine treatment and electrographic seizures after febrile status epilepticus". [Letter]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Oct 06; :107931. [Online ahead of print]ER
- We appreciate Inui et al.'s comments regarding the divergent prognostic outcomes of patients with electrographic seizures (ESz) between our studies. The poorer prognosis in their cohort compared to ours likely stems from three key differences. First, baseline disease severity significantly differed. Our cohort predominantly consisted of milder cases, such as febrile seizures, with only 17.2% requ…

- Cross-cultural adaptation and hospital-based validation of Sinhala and Tamil versions of the AIIMS-modified INCLEN epilepsy screening questionnaire in Sri Lankan children and adolescents. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Sep 27; 228:107927. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: The Sinhala and Tamil versions of the AIIMS-modified INCLEN epilepsy screening questionnaire demonstrated acceptable diagnostic accuracy and high reliability of the derived classification variable in this hospital-based validation sample. The questionnaire may support structured identification of children requiring further diagnostic assessment but should not replace clinical evaluation. Prospective community-based validation using consecutive recruitment is required before routine implementation in primary care or population screening programmes.

- Impact of Ramadan on seizure-related emergency department visits in Qatar. [Journal Article]Epilepsy Res. 2026 Sep 29; 228:107929. [Online ahead of print]ER
- CONCLUSIONS: Ramadan was not associated with increased seizure-related ED burden. Emergency physicians modified acute management for fasting subjects by favouring intravenous antiseizure medication loading and deferring new oral regimen initiation.
