  • An exploration of self-evaluation of induced temporal and spatial gait asymmetry in neurotypical young adults. [Journal Article]
Gait Posture. 2026 Sep 26; 132:110646. [Online ahead of print]Hlady CA, Nham L, … Patterson KKGP
  • CONCLUSIONS: These preliminary findings suggest self-evaluation of TGA is more accurate than SGA and directing attention to the swing phase may facilitate more accurate self-evaluation of TGA. These findings provide context for future work that will investigate self-evaluation of gait asymmetry in people with stroke. Such information can inform the development of extrinsic feedback-based interventions for post-stroke gait asymmetry.
  • Autocorrelation-based gait regularity reveals progressive changes during prolonged walking. [Journal Article]
    Gait Posture. 2026 Sep 24; 132:110644. [Online ahead of print]Siebold E, Schweizer T, … Haller NGP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Gait regularity decreased systematically during an ultra-long-distance endurance march under real-world conditions. Autocorrelation-based analysis of arm-worn acceleration data captured progressive changes in locomotor patterns. These findings support wearable-based monitoring of locomotor adaptations during prolonged load carriage and future fatigue and injury risk assessment.
  • Alterations in gait kinematics and kinetics in patients with hammertoe deformity during walking. [Journal Article]
    Gait Posture. 2027 Jan; 131:110642.Rahman H, Fofana S, … La Fontaine JGP
  • CONCLUSIONS: Hammertoe deformity was associated with a distal‑to‑proximal redistribution of mechanical work during gait, characterized by diminished distal torque and power generation and compensatory proximal joint mechanics. These findings provide biomechanical insight into gait alterations associated with hammertoe deformity and may inform future interventions targeting propulsion and distal function during walking.
  • Cadence and age interact to determine long‑range correlations in human walking. [Journal Article]
Gait Posture. 2027 Jan; 131:110640.Wiles TM, Kim SK, … Likens ADGP
  • CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that differences in overground gait variability between age groups are unlikely to be attributed to their gait speed, height, or weight. The results also point towards a needed future experiment that resolves the finding that LRCs are partially dependent on walking direction, walking path curvature, and the significance of LRC asymmetry within the context of aging, falls, and disease prevention.
