- Pacak-Zhuang syndrome with EPAS1 p.Pro531Leu somatic variant: one case report and literature review. [Case Reports]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2749300.H
- CONCLUSIONS: Pacak-Zhuang syndrome is a rare disorder involving the neuroendocrine and hematopoietic systems, often initially presenting with 'polycythemia'. Most cases are sporadic, with no apparent familial inheritance or history of other neuroendocrine tumors. When encountering pediatric patients with unexplained hypertension accompanied by polycythemia symptoms, the possibility of this syndrome should be considered, and further imaging studies and genetic testing are required for definitive diagnosis.

- Threshold effect of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D on Anemia risk in U.S. adults aged 45 years and older. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2746132.H
- CONCLUSIONS: In U.S. adults aged ≥ 45 years, the protective association between serum 25(OH)D and anemia appears to exhibit a threshold around 64.57 nmol/L, below which lower levels were associated with progressively higher anemia risk. These findings are hypothesis-generating and merit confirmation in prospective and interventional studies.

- Effects of long-term cryopreservation at -80 °C on the viability and recovery of peripheral blood stem cells. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2741981.H
- CONCLUSIONS: The cryopreservation conditions employed in this study did not significantly reduce CD34[+] cell viability and recovery during storage for up to 24 months. A higher granulocyte content was associated with lower post-thaw CD34[+] viability and recovery.

- Development and internal validation of a machine learning model for predicting second primary malignancy risk in hodgkin lymphoma survivors: a population-based competing risk analysis. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2737562.H
- CONCLUSIONS: The RSF-based machine learning model accurately predicts SPM risk in HL survivors within a competing risk framework, substantially outperforming traditional regression approaches. This interpretable prediction tool may facilitate personalised surveillance strategies and risk-adapted follow-up for HL survivors.

- Single-cell and bulk transcriptomic integration identifies a high-CNV, dark-zone-enriched malignant cell state associated with adverse prognosis in GCB-DLBCL. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2740288.H
- CONCLUSIONS: This study identifies a high-CNV, dark-zone-enriched malignant cell state within GCB-DLBCL, represented by the M-C2 subpopulation, associated with impaired antigen presentation and adverse prognosis. This framework improves understanding of malignant heterogeneity and warrants further validation for risk stratification.

- miR-877-5P acts as a tumor suppressor in multiple myeloma by targeting MAPK8: a study on prognostic value and functional mechanism. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2722564.H
- CONCLUSIONS: miR-877-5p acts as a tumor suppressor in MM and may serve as a potential biomarker for prognosis assessment. Its regulatory role in MM progression is likely mediated through targeting and inhibiting MAPK8.

- Human platelet 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid concentrations are meager and unlikely to be physiologically active or play a role in inflammation. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2733376.H
- CONCLUSIONS: It appears that the platelet has only negligible amounts of 5-HIAA and that platelet 5-HIAA is unlikely to play a role in human immune response, in inflammation, or in any other aspect of human physiology.

- CONCLUSIONS: Frontline inotuzumab (±blinatumomab) plus chemotherapy showed promise in older populations, while the efficacy benefit of rituximab was inconclusive. No new safety signals were identified in the frontline setting for targeted therapies.

- Beyond antigen matching: compatibility intelligence theory for transfusion as an emergent biological system. [Review]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2729588.H
- CONCLUSIONS: Compatibility Intelligence Theory offers a testable systems-level framework for understanding transfusion compatibility without replacing established transfusion practices. The framework is not presented as a ready-to-use score: currently measurable variables can be organized for structured risk review, whereas inflammatory, immunogenetic, and multi-omic inputs require prospective standardization and validation. If future studies demonstrate incremental predictive and patient-centered benefit, CIT-informed PTI could support an adaptive, evidence-based extension of current precision transfusion practice.

- Serologic follow-up in patients with multiple myeloma without repeated bone marrow studies: a single-institution experience. [Journal Article]Hematology. 2026 Dec 31; 31(1):2727801.H
- CONCLUSIONS: In routine clinical practice, achievement of serologic undetectability defined by standard laboratory assays was associated with superior OS and PFS. These results support the prognostic value of accessible serologic monitoring strategies when repeated bone marrow-based MRD evaluations are not feasible.
