- Acetabular morphology, centre-edge angle and cognitive impairment as predictors of dislocation and mortality after hip hemiarthroplasty. [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 30; :11207000261478865. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: Acetabular depth <20 mm and CEA <40° independently predict postoperative instability after cemented bipolar HHA, and reduced depth correlates with increased mortality, reinforcing its value as an anatomical and functional marker. Integrating radiographic acetabular evaluation with cognitive screening may enhance risk stratification and guide pre-operative planning and postoperative supervision.

- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that preoperative planning to achieve a larger simulated ROM, ER angle, and extension angle may reduce the risk of anterior dislocation. Furthermore, fine-tuning of cup anteversion during preoperative planning may reduce the risk of anterior dislocation.

- Short- to mid-term outcomes of total hip arthroplasty in high hip dislocations: does age matter? [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 29; :11207000261485833. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: Age does not independently predict revision or inferior functional outcomes following THA in HHD. Higher complication rates in older patients are primarily attributed to comorbidities. Appropriate perioperative management ensures comparable long-term outcomes regardless of age, emphasing the importance of addressing comorbidities over chronological age in candidate selection for THA.

- Functional outcomes after total hip arthroplasty in young patients: comparison of patients younger than 35 years versus patients aged 35-40 years. [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 29; :11207000261485191. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: THA in young patients resulted in improved functional outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction. Postoperative outcomes were found to be comparable between patients aged <35 and those aged between 35 and 40 years. These findings indicate that THA can provide functional improvement in young patients, when underlying diseases, complex deformities and prior surgeries are considered.

- CONCLUSIONS: Early surgical management is a modifiable risk factor that independently lowers mortality risk. This study supports the recent reduction in target time to surgery by the ANZHFR to improve patient outcomes.

- Aseptic loosening of small hydroxyapatite-coated quadrangular tapered femoral stems: camouflage in the Canadian Joint Replacement Registry. [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 29; :11207000261475482. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: The increased risk of revision of these small stems camouflages a highly increased risk of revision for aseptic loosening in undersized stems (small stem/big cup). This study was unable to ascertain whether this applies to other quadrangular tapered stems. Due to the small number of affected patients, it is important to repeat this study in other jurisdictions. Surgeons should be skeptical if a smaller size stem seems appropriate during broaching than preoperative templating or cup size suggests, as this may increase the risk of aseptic loosening.

- Functional outcomes of gluteus medius repair after prior primary THA: a case series with 2-year minimum follow-up. [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 27; :11207000261475997. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: GM repair following THA was associated with favourable outcomes, high satisfaction, and low re-operation rates at mid-term follow-up. A high proportion of patients achieved clinically meaningful improvements, supporting the role of GM repair as an effective intervention for abductor pathology after THA.

- Assessing the impact of dialysis on short, intermediate, and long-term outcomes following total hip arthroplasty: a propensity-matched analysis. [Journal Article]Hip Int. 2026 Sep 27; :11207000261476977. [Online ahead of print]HI
- CONCLUSIONS: Dialysis-dependent patients undergoing THA face significantly higher rates of short-term and long-term orthopedic complications. Surgeons should discuss with patients the demonstrated elevated risk of complications with elective THA in patient's dependent on dialysis.

- CONCLUSIONS: Percutaneous neuromodulation of the obturator nerve with the use of PRF ablation is an effective and safe procedure with durable pain relief in patients with mild-to-moderate osteoarthritis up to 12 months, whereas in severe disease (grade 4) disease the effect is predominantly short-term, with recurrence of pain after approximately 3 months.

- CONCLUSIONS: This is the study with the largest population using TT for acetabular defects. We report good outcomes and an acceptable rate of complications, also due to implant modularity allowing stable fixation with secondary osseointegration.

- CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of IPD in MDM implants is low, with pooled rates remaining below 1%. Revision rates were modest and consistent with published data on complex hip arthroplasty. No significant differences between manufacturers were detected, though findings are limited by the small number of non-Stryker implants reported. These findings suggest that MDM designs appear safe with overall low numbers of IPD-related complications, however, larger registry-based studies are needed to better define potential design-related differences in IPD risk.

- CONCLUSIONS: Direction-specific assessment of PO may help anticipate residual coronal malalignment after THA, with greater leg lengthening associated with residual U-PO and spinal deformity and reduced lumbar flexibility associated with residual D-PO.

- CONCLUSIONS: Conversion THA after hip arthrodesis yields substantial functional recovery and durable mid-term implant stability. - CONCLUSIONS: Consistent preoperative GLP-1 RA use is associated with reduced 90-day DVT and readmission following primary THA without increased risk of other complications or mechanical outcomes at 5 years. As DVT was the only significant thromboembolic endpoint, prospective investigation is needed before attributing a thromboprophylactic effect to these agents.
