- Digital analysis of spatial expression of stromal fibroblast activation protein alpha (FAP) in DCIS. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, FAP is a promising biomarker for predicting nearby invasive carcinoma. Its integration into the existing risk stratification models could enhance clinically meaningful prediction.

- Detection of NTRK1/2/3 rearrangements in pigmented spindle cell naevus of Reed: a comparative study of optimized pan-TRK immunohistochemistry, FISH and RNA-NGS. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Oct 09. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: Our 'optimized' pan-TRK protocol achieved high SP and PPV for the detection of NTRK3 fusions/rearrangements in PSCNs, despite a limited sensitivity compared to molecular assay. These results suggest that this protocol may serve as a diagnostic tool in routine practice, effectively guiding molecular testing and refining the diagnostic workflow for PSCNs.

- Cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 (CDK4/6) inhibitor-induced hepatotoxicity and its resolution: a study of seven cases. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: CDK4/6 inhibitor-induced liver injury predominantly manifests as acute hepatocellular injury with zone 3 necrosis and lymphocytic cholangitis. Despite severe histological abnormalities, it resolves with drug withdrawal, and limited cross-reactivity between agents supports individualised therapeutic strategies.

- Do alternative classification systems improve prognostication in phyllodes tumours of the breast? A comparative clinicopathological study. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort, high stromal mitotic activity and malignant heterologous elements were the strongest predictors of recurrence in PTs. Tan et al.'s classification system demonstrated close concordance with the WHO (2019) criteria, whereas the Refined Criteria classified a substantially greater proportion of tumours as malignant without improving prognostic discrimination during the available follow-up period. Comprehensive tumour sampling remains essential for accurate classification and reliable prognostic assessment of PTs of the breast.

- CONCLUSIONS: We advocate using the hotspot method of obtaining the highest stromal mitotic count, together with other histological parameters, to classify PTs.

- Immunohistochemical profile of molecularly verified clear cell renal cell carcinomas. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Oct 01. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: In this cohort of molecularly verified CCRCCS, positive KER7 staining was seen in 30% of tumours with diffuse strong staining in 16%. The IHC profiles correlated with both morphological features and genetic alterations.

- Distinct Rb expression pattern in HPV-associated neuroendocrine carcinomas of the uterine cervix. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: Most UCNECs are associated with HPV infection and characterized by p16 overexpression as well as partial loss of Rb. The Rb expression pattern differs between HPV-positive UCNECs and HPV-negative pulmonary NECs, suggesting the potential diagnostic utility of Rb as well as p16.

- To trace the historical evolution of gastrointestinal mixed epithelial-neuroendocrine tumour terminology, clarify current diagnostic criteria, histological features and approach to reporting these lesions in accordance with the latest classification of gastrointestinal tumours, a narrative overview was undertaken on mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasia (MiNEN). The review traces term…

- Tumour deposits are associated with increased metastatic risk in colorectal cancer: a population-based analysis of metastatic patterns and burden. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Sep 30. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: TD are independently associated with an increased risk of distant metastases in CRC. This finding supports consideration of TD in future risk stratification strategies and warrant further investigation into whether TD mark a distinct metastatic phenotype rather than merely reflecting locoregional disease progression.

- Stroma AReactive Invasion Front Areas (SARIFA) is a negative prognostic factor for overall survival in non-intestinal gastric adenocarcinomas. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: SARIFA is a robust, easily assessable histological marker with independent prognostic value in non-intestinal gastric adenocarcinomas. Reliable histopathological markers for this group of tumours, characterized by their distinctive morphology and infiltration pattern, remain limited. Integration of SARIFA into routine diagnostics may enhance risk stratification.

- Immunoreactivity of GPNMB (glycoprotein nonmetastatic melanoma protein B) across the spectrum of uterine mesenchymal tumours. [Journal Article]Histopathology. 2026 Sep 25. [Online ahead of print]H
- CONCLUSIONS: Although highly sensitive for uterine PEComa, GPNMB lacks sufficient specificity for distinguishing PEComa from its principal uterine mesenchymal mimics, particularly LMS, IMT and UUS. Although strict scoring criteria (moderate-to-strong positivity in >75% of tumour cells) reduce false-positive interpretation, GPNMB should not be used as a standalone discriminatory marker but interpreted in conjunction with morphology and a broader immunohistochemical panel.

- Histopathology of nail unit tumours: diagnostic features and emerging advances. [Review]Histopathology. 2026 Sep 24. [Online ahead of print]H
- Nail unit tumours are unusual and frequently underrecognized neoplasms that may pose diagnostic challenges to both clinicians and dermatopathologists. This review focuses on nail unit tumours that most frequently present diagnostic difficulty, owing to significant clinical or histopathological overlap with one another, and provides a comprehensive update on their histopathology. Entities covered …
