- Should Coffee Consumers Not Have Their Habitual Morning Coffee Before Testing Their Cognitive Functions? [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Overnight coffee abstinence selectively slowed RT, and no statistical support was found for effects on memory or executive function. This suggests that overnight coffee abstinence protocols may introduce withdrawal-related RT slowing as a confound in habitual consumers, whereas other cognitive domains may not be affected. Allowing habitual consumers to maintain normal coffee intake could reduce this bias, supporting tailored rather than uniform abstinence requirements based on the specific outcomes studied.

- Baseline Symptom Severity is a Robust Predictor of Treatment Dropout Across Psychiatric Diagnoses: An Individual-Participant Analysis of Seven NIMH Trials. [Journal Article]Hum Psychopharmacol. 2026 Nov; 41(6).HP
- CONCLUSIONS: Baseline symptom severity is a robust, diagnosis-spanning marker of dropout risk and a practical target for retention support, whereas age, sex, and race need study-specific interpretation. Grading pooled estimates with assumption checks distinguishes durable transdiagnostic signals from design-bound ones, a template for future IPD dropout research.

- Serum Tau and α-Synuclein in Children With Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Cross-Sectional Associations With Methylphenidate Treatment. [Journal Article]Hum Psychopharmacol. 2026 Nov; 41(6):e70068.HP
- CONCLUSIONS: Serum α-synuclein and total tau showed distinct cross-sectional group patterns. These associations do not establish methylphenidate effects and require prospective confirmation.

- Acute Caffeine Intake Does Not Modulate Active or Reactive Inhibition in Non-Clinical Young Adults, and ADHD Symptoms Do Not Moderate Its Effects. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Caffeine produced no acute benefit for either form of inhibition, and ADHD symptoms did not moderate its effects. Bayes factors supported the absence rather than the nondetection of these effects, arguing against an acute improvement of inhibitory control that scales with ADHD symptom severity in nonclinical young adults. Whether this also holds for chronic consumption or for adults with diagnosed ADHD remains to be tested.

- Serum Complement Component 4A and Neurofilament Light Chain Levels Before and After Risperidone Monotherapy in Patients With Psychosis. [Journal Article]Hum Psychopharmacol. 2026 Nov; 41(6):e70065.HP
- CONCLUSIONS: The preliminary findings of the study suggest that risperidone monotherapy resulted in a significant reduction in serum C4A levels, whereas serum NfL levels did not change and remained elevated in patients with psychosis. In addition, risperidone monotherapy resulted in a significant improvement in quality of life. Serum C4A and NfL levels were measured using ELISA rather than ultrasensitive immunoassays. Therefore, larger longitudinal studies with longer follow-up and ultrasensitive biomarker platforms are warranted to confirm these findings.

- CONCLUSIONS: Co-prescription warrants structured monitoring and sick-day education. Creatinine-based eGFR changes during major weight loss do not establish renal benefit or exclude kidney injury.

- Association of Concomitant Amlodipine Use With Serum Olanzapine Concentrations and Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Schizophrenia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Concomitant amlodipine use was associated with lower serum olanzapine concentration and smaller improvements in selected clinical domains. The individual-level analyses did not establish a concentration-response relationship, and the retrospective design precludes causal inference. Haemodynamic safety could not be evaluated because complete standardised blood-pressure data were unavailable. These findings suggest that closer monitoring of clinical response and serum olanzapine concentrations may be considered when amlodipine is co-prescribed, particularly in patients with suboptimal treatment response.

- A Systematic Review and a VigiBase Study of Accidental Clozapine Intoxications in Children and Adolescents. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Accidental clozapine poisoning in pediatric populations, although rare, can result in severe and potentially life-threatening outcomes, particularly in very young children. At home, preventive strategies are essential to reduce accidental overdose. The 3 cases of hospitalized adolescents are relatively recent, and many hospitals currently have systems in place to prevent medication errors.

- Correlation Analysis of Blood Lithium Metabolism Kinetics and Concentration-to-Dose Ratio in Patients With Hypertension and Manic Episodes. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Hypertension can reduce renal lithium excretion and elevate both the C/D ratio and the risk of toxicity; therefore, in clinical practice, the initial lithium dose should be reduced and therapeutic drug monitoring should be intensified for patients with comorbid hypertension, while elderly patients should receive stratified management with lower serum concentration ranges.

- Psilocybin, From Ancestral Use to Therapeutic Potential: A Multidimensional Review of Its Pharmacological Basis and Current Perspectives. [Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Current findings suggest psilocybin offers sustained therapeutic effects and a favorable safety profile. However, uncertainties remain regarding long-term safety, individualized responses, and optimal dosing. Ethical and regulatory challenges require rigorous, standardized research for responsible clinical integration.

- Psychopharmacological Mechanisms of Antidepressant Withdrawal: Insights From Venlafaxine. [Review]
- Antidepressant discontinuation syndrome (ADS) is widely reported yet often minimized by terminology that obscures its status as a withdrawal phenomenon. Roughly one-third of patients using a monotherapy antidepressant develop withdrawal symptoms after discontinuation, with higher rates among patients taking venlafaxine (VEN) and those treated long-term. VEN's dual transporter pharmacodynamics, it…

- Empathic Accuracy and Behavioral Empathy After a Moderate Dose of Beer. [Randomized Controlled Trial]
- CONCLUSIONS: Although alcohol may alter empathy, its effects are not consistent and may depend on the dose and type of alcohol consumed. The moderating roles of trait empathy and trait aggressivity deserves further study.

- The Impact of Citicoline/Phosphatidylserine Supplementation on Cognitive Performance and Executive Functions in Mental Disorders: A Systematic Review of Controlled Trials. [Systematic Review]
- CONCLUSIONS: Given methodological limitations and high risk of bias, current evidence does not support citicoline or PS-containing compounds as effective cognitive enhancers in mental disorders. Consequently, these agents should be positioned as adjunctive or investigational rather than as evidence-based treatments.
