- Carbide gun-related ocular trauma: Clinical profile and early management outcomes from an acute outbreak. [Journal Article]Indian J Ophthalmol. 2026 Oct 01; 74(Suppl 3):S456-S463.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Carbide gun-related ocular trauma causes severe, vision-threatening thermochemical ocular injuries predominantly in children and adolescents. Early AMT improves short-term outcomes, but severe grade burns carry a high risk of LSCD. Public awareness, regulation of calcium carbide availability, and social media control are needed to prevent avoidable blindness.

- Robotic-assisted simulation of eyelid laceration repair: A proof-of-concept study. [Journal Article]Indian J Ophthalmol. 2026 Oct 01; 74(Suppl 3):S428-S432.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This proof-of-concept study demonstrates the technical feasibility and safety of robotic-assisted eyelid laceration repair in a simulated environment. With prior simulator-based robotic training, ophthalmologists may effectively perform delicate periocular suturing using the Da Vinci system. These findings support further preclinical and translational studies exploring the role of robotic platforms in oculoplastic and ophthalmic trauma surgery.

- Biosimilars in diabetic macular edema: Promise, progress, and pitfalls. [Review]Indian J Ophthalmol. 2026 Oct 01; 74(Suppl 3):S345-S352.IJ
- Diabetic macular edema (DME) is a common microvascular complication of diabetes and a major cause of vision impairment. Intravitreal vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors remain the gold standard for its management. However, the high cost and limited accessibility of reference anti-VEGF agents have driven growing interest in biosimilars-biologic therapies designed to match the effi…

- Here, we review and summarize the evolution of surgical techniques and outcomes of minimally invasive, knotless (flanged) approaches for the repair of iridodialysis. A thorough literature search was performed using PubMed, Medline, Cochrane Library, and Embase databases to identify studies related to iridodialysis repair. Iridodialysis repair, flanged polypropylene suture, knotless iridodialysis …

- Ocular infections and stewardship practices for Ophthalmologists: The RED EYE AMSP model. [Review]Indian J Ophthalmol. 2026 Oct 01; 74(Suppl 3):S329-S332.IJ
- Ocular infections, ranging from conjunctivitis and keratitis to postoperative and device-associated endophthalmitis, remain a significant cause of preventable visual morbidity worldwide. In India and other low- and middle-income countries, the irrational use of topical and systemic antimicrobials, often without microbiological confirmation, has contributed to the emergence of multidrug-resistant …

- Clinical profile and outcomes of posterior segment metallic intraocular foreign bodies following chisel-hammer injury managed with pars plana vitrectomy. [Journal Article]Indian J Ophthalmol. 2026 Oct 01; 74(Suppl 3):S442-S448.IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: Although limited by a relatively small retrospective cohort, the current study showed that early PPV with appropriate adjunctive measures significantly improved anatomical and functional outcomes in most CHI-IOFB cases. RD, endophthalmitis, and siderosis were major complications associated with CHI-IOFB at presentation. Deep-seated IOFB beyond the optic nerve head or post-equatorial scleral coats posed surgical challenges in IOFB retrieval, highlighting the importance of appropriate preoperative imaging and evaluation in cases with complex posterior segment CHI-IOFB.

- CONCLUSIONS: Using a 2.2 mm keratome for the main incision as well as OCCIs during phacoemulsification stands out as a safe, effective, and notably low-cost method for correcting a mild-to-moderate degree of astigmatism.
