- Dabrafenib plus trametinib in BRAF V600E-mutant Erdheim-Chester disease: a case series including CNS involvement. [Journal Article]Int J Hematol. 2026 Sep 27. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- CONCLUSIONS: This case series highlights the effectiveness and tolerability of dabrafenib plus trametinib for BRAF V600E-mutant ECD, including cases with CNS and cardiovascular involvement. Molecular diagnosis and targeted therapy appear to be critical for optimizing outcomes, although further prospective studies are warranted to clarify the long-term effectiveness, resistance mechanisms, and optimal duration of this treatment approach.

- Impact of resolved hepatitis B virus infection on clinical outcomes in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: a supplementary analysis of JCOG0601. [Journal Article]Int J Hematol. 2026 Sep 27. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- The impact of resolved hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, defined as pretreatment hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negativity with antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) positivity, on the clinical characteristics and outcomes of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) remains unclear. JCOG0601 was a randomized phase II/III trial showing no improvement in progression-free survival (PFS)…

- Prognostic impact of P-m-EASIX at neutrophil engraftment after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. [Journal Article]Int J Hematol. 2026 Sep 27. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Although the Endothelial Activation and Stress Index (EASIX) correlates with patient outcomes after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), its prognostic value at neutrophil engraftment remains unclear. Elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and hypophosphatemia at neutrophil engraftment correlate with worse outcomes after allo-HSCT. P-m-EASIX, which incorporates CRP, p…

- Arterial occlusive events in CML patients on TKIs: a real-world study including a large proportion of older patients. [Journal Article]
- The prognosis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has greatly improved with the introduction of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), but the high incidence of cardiovascular events, including arterial occlusive events (AOEs), has raised significant concerns. To better understand such adverse events, we analyzed patient comorbidities and TKI prescribing patterns to report safety information including …

- Strategies to prevent post-transplant relapse in acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. [Review]
- Relapse remains the leading cause of treatment failure after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes. Post-transplant treatment may provide a third anti-leukemic effect after conditioning-related cytotoxicity has waned and before graft-versus-leukemia immunity is fully established. Prophylactic maintenance is initiated in high-ri…

- Dynamic nutritional changes between relapse and second allogeneic transplantation predict survival in acute leukemia. [Journal Article]
- Relapse after a first allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT1) remains a major therapeutic challenge in acute leukemia, and second transplantation (HSCT2) is frequently considered for selected patients. Although pre-transplant nutritional status has been associated with outcomes after HSCT2, the prognostic significance of changes in nutritional status between relapse and HSCT2 r…

- Coagulation profiles and factor XIII activity in pediatric patients with severe motor and intellectual disability: a multicenter exploratory study. [Journal Article]
- Severe motor and intellectual disabilities (SMID) are a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by profound motor and cognitive impairment. Although routine coagulation tests are often normal, immobility, use of antiseizure medication (ASM), and poor nutrition may affect hemostasis. However, global coagulation potential in pediatric SMID patients remains unclear. This study evaluated coagu…

- Current perspectives on non-factor therapies for hemophilia. [Review]
- Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder caused by deficiency of coagulation factor VIII or IX and results in impaired thrombin generation and recurrent bleeding. Prophylactic factor replacement remains the standard treatment; however, its limitations, including the burden of intravenous treatment, inhibitor development, and residual bleeding, necessitate alternative strategies. Non-factor th…

- Cytokine release syndrome in adults with acute leukemia after allo-HCT with posttransplant cyclophosphamide prophylaxis. [Journal Article]Int J Hematol. 2026 Sep 15. [Online ahead of print]IJ
- Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) is a common complication following allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) with posttransplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy). However, its incidence, risk factors, and clinical significance remain incompletely characterized. We retrospectively analyzed 362 adult patients with acute leukemia in complete remission who underwent PTCy-based allo-HCT at a sin…

- Road to treatment-free remission in chronic myeloid leukemia. [Review]
- The development of BCR::ABL1 tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) has transformed chronic myeloid leukemia into a chronic disease with near-normal life expectancy. More recently, treatment-free remission (TFR), defined as sustained molecular remission even after TKI discontinuation, has emerged as a realistic therapeutic goal and a type of functional cure. Landmark studies, including STIM1, A-STIM, …

- Fulminant hyperammonemia during intensive chemotherapy in the setting of previously unrecognized partial ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency. [Journal Article]
- Hyperammonemic encephalopathy is a rare but often fatal complication in patients with hematological malignancies receiving intensive therapy, and its underlying mechanism is often unclear. We report the case of a woman in her 40 s with acute myeloid leukemia who developed fulminant nonhepatic hyperammonemia during high-dose cytarabine consolidation in association with previously unrecognized part…

- Recent advances in cell therapy for AML/MDS. [Review]
- Cellular immunotherapy has substantially changed the treatment of B-cell leukemias, lymphomas, and multiple myeloma. The success of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy in these diseases has been supported by suitable target antigens, including CD19 in B-cell malignancies and B-cell maturation antigen in multiple myeloma. In contrast, comparable progress has not yet been achieved in acu…

- Belumosudil for acute GVHD after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation: a retrospective case series. [Journal Article]
- Current therapies for acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) are limited by suboptimal efficacy or excessive immunosuppression. In this retrospective, exploratory, hypothesis-generating case series, we evaluated belumosudil, a selective Rho-associated coiled-coil kinase 2 inhibitor, in eight patients with aGVHD. All patients had gastrointestinal involvement, and 62.5% had grade IV aGVHD. Seven p…
