  • Differential effects of heartbeat perception training on interoceptive accuracy in high vs. low symptom reporters. [Journal Article]
    Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Oct 05; :113485. [Online ahead of print]Müller R, Vögele C, … Schulz AIJ
  • Abnormal interoception may be a hallmark of medically-unexplained symptoms (MUS), although its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We investigated whether MUS are associated with enhanced interoceptive learning, potentially facilitated by post-learning stress. From 177 volunteers providing self-reports on MUS, 22 individuals were recruited from the upper and 26 from the lower quartile (high/HSR…
  • Boder's dyslexia subtypes as a severity continuum with a definitional route axis - A behavioural companion to harmonised qEEG cross-spectra. [Journal Article]
    Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Oct 04; :113486. [Online ahead of print]Chiarenza GA, Peluso V, Bosch-Bayard JIJ
  • CONCLUSIONS: No evidence for natural clusters emerged with the present methods: the subtypes behave as overlapping regions of graded continuous distributions. Both axes of Boder's scheme are threshold-defined - severity by the reading quotient, route by unknown-word spelling - and both are continuously distributed. Once the defining variable is removed, reading dynamics carry no residual severity signal (0.50) and independent behaviour carries only a faint route signal (0.58-0.61); the route distinction is clearest in brain connectivity, which predicts the behaviourally defined labels rather than independently validating a latent route construct. Together, the two papers advance a dimensional, mechanism-aware account of dyslexia subtyping.
  • Neurophysiological affective reactivity classification and its stability in individuals with cannabis use disorder. [Journal Article]
Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Oct 02; :113484. [Online ahead of print]Schermitzler BS, Preston TJ, … Macatee RJIJ
  • The increasing prevalence of Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD) necessitates measures that reliably predict outcomes. Based in the incentive sensitization model of addiction, the late positive potential (LPP) has been used to predict choice of drug versus affective cues and classify individuals into clinically-relevant neuroaffective reactivity profiles derived from viewing affective and drug-related pi…
  • Effects of HF-rTMS over left and right DLPFC on worry and parasympathetic cardiac control. [Journal Article]
    Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Sep 30; 230:113481. [Online ahead of print]Keppens R, Verde V, … Pulopulos MMIJ
  • The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) is central to regulating intrusive thoughts and worry, yet the lateralization and neurophysiological mechanisms underlying these processes remain unclear. Parasympathetic cardiac control, indexed by heart rate variability (HRV), has been proposed to correlate with prefrontal control over brain regions involved in emotional, cognitive, and autonomic regul…
  • Autonomic responses to trigger sounds persist despite attentional redirection in misophonia. [Journal Article]
    Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Sep 28; 229:113476. [Online ahead of print]Savard MA, Brooks M, … Deroche MLDIJ
  • Misophonia is a disorder characterized by exaggerated emotional responses and heightened autonomic arousal triggered by specific sounds. Despite evidence that higher-level cognitive processes contribute to misophonia, it remains uncertain whether they can be used to modulate misophonic responses to trigger sounds. Based on the observation that individuals with misophonia often report listening to…
  • Childhood trauma and adolescent sleep problems: The roles of perceived stress and vagal regulation. [Journal Article]
    Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Sep 24; 229:113478. [Online ahead of print]Zeng Y, Lü WIJ
  • Childhood trauma is a risk factor for sleep problems. However, the longitudinal relationship between childhood trauma and sleep problems and the mechanism underlying this link remains unclear. The present study explored the longitudinal relation between childhood trauma and sleep problems, and the mediating role of perceived stress and the moderating role of RSA suppression in this link among ado…
  • Sense of agency promotes recognition memory: the role of self-referential processing. [Journal Article]
    Int J Psychophysiol. 2026 Sep 17; 229:113475. [Online ahead of print]Zhu R, Ma H, … Ma KIJ
  • Recent research has explored whether sense of agency (SoA) over to-be-remembered items enhances performance in recognition memory tasks, and what the underlying mechanisms might be. The present study systematically investigates the role of self-referential processing in this improvement. Building on the Comparator Model of SoA, we manipulated SoA from two perspectives: retrospective inference (ac…
