- Genetically engineered porcine liver: a new era in transplantation. [Journal Article]
- The persistent shortage of allogenic donor organs has driven the exploration of xenotransplantation as a viable alternative for patients with end-stage liver disease. This review investigates the progress and challenges in liver xenotransplantation, focusing on the use of genetically engineered animals, particularly pigs, as potential organ donors. This narrative review discusses various sources …

- Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty video annotation: analysis of the learning curve of three annotators to achieve procedure proficiency. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The learning process differs among trainees, as mirrored in the variable number of procedures needed to master ESG. Tailoring training for different trainees could lead to the shortening of learning curves. Some features of ESG are mastered more quickly; however, careful and repeated practice is essential for minimizing errors in more complex features. VBL could play a role in the democratization of high-level learning.

- Temporal changes in circulating metabolites after metabolic and bariatric surgery and risk of incident coronary heart disease: evidence from prospective cohort and nested case-control studies. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: MBS elicits substantial metabolomic alterations, with many altered metabolites associated with incident CHD. These findings provide mechanistic insights into the cardiovascular benefits of MBS and suggest potential therapeutic targets for CHD prevention.

- Impact of preoperative internal versus external biliary drainage on surgical and oncological outcomes after pancreaticoduodenectomy: a systematic review and meta-analysis. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: ExtBD was associated with lower postoperative morbidity after PD, whereas oncological outcomes remain uncertain. Given the low methodological quality and predominantly retrospective design of the included studies, these findings should be considered hypothesis-generating. Prospective trials are needed to clarify the optimal preoperative drainage strategy.

- Performance evaluation of electrosurgical pencils: insights into surgical smoke mitigation and thermal damage reduction. [Journal Article]
- Electrosurgical pencils (ESPs) are essential in modern surgery; however, concerns remain regarding their exposure to surgical smoke and thermal tissue damage. This study quantitatively evaluated four ESPs with a particular focus on two critical aspects: surgical smoke generation and minimization of thermal damage to the surrounding tissues.
