- The histopathologic effects of L-carnitine in Sodium Taurocholate Induced Severe Pancreatitis Model. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that l-carnitine has a significant histopathologic protective effect on acinar cell degeneration in STC-induced SP model in rats.
- DOES NEUTROPHIL TO LYMPHOCYTE RATIO PREDICT HOSPITAL STAY IN APPENDECTOMY PATIENTS? [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first comprehensive study to evaluate the associa-tion between NLR levels and the length of hospital stay in patients with acute appendicitis. The NLR was not found to be associated with the length of hospital stay. The appendix di-ameter on CT and appendix pathology reports were correlated with the length of postopera-tive hospital stay in appendectomy patients.
- Proliferation, Apoptosis and Invasion effects of mistletoe alkali on human osteosarcoma U2OS in vitro. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Mistletoe alkali significantly inhibited growth and invasion abilities of U2OS cells and induced their apoptosis in vitro. Mistletoe alkali may be a more effective drug for Human Osteosarcoma than the standard chemotherapeutic drug 5-FU.
- Severe Irreversible Diastasis Recti Abdominis and Abdominal Hernia in Postpartum Women: Rare Case Report. [Journal Article]
- Diastasis recti abdominis is a condition defined as the separation between the rectus abdominis and the linea alba, which leads to weakness in the abdominal muscles. Diastasis may be slight or severe, sometimes resulting in herniation of the abdominal viscera. Following childbirth, most women develop some extent of muscle separation in the postpartum period. However, if the diastasis recti abdomi…
- Mesothelial Cysts of the Round Ligament of the Uterus in 9 Patients: a 15-year experience. [Journal Article]
- Aim of this study was to evaluate the characteristic features of patients with mesothelial cyst of the round ligament of the uterus and the incidence of this entity. This was a retrospective review of 3065 patients who underwent inguinal exploration for groin mass from 1998 to 2013. Clinical, radiological and histopathological features of patients with a diagnosis of mesothelial cyst of the round…
- Successful Conservative Management of a Retroperitoneal Abscess with a Sinus to the Colon: A Case Report. [Journal Article]
- A sinus between the colon and a retroperitoneal abscess is a rare entity that usually occurs as a complication of a primary condition such as Crohn's disease, radiation enteritis, or diverticular disease. Herein, we report a 72-year-old woman with a retroperitoneal abscess and a sinus formation between the abscess and the colon after an iatrogenic injury to her left colon. The retroperitoneal abs…
- HEPATOPROTECTIVE EFFECT OF DEXMEDETOMIDINE AGAINST RADIOIODINE TOXICITY IN RATS: EVALUATION OF OXIDATIVE STATUS AND HISTOPATHOLOGICAL CHANGES. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: It was presented that DEX had radioprotective effect on the liver after I-131 therapy and anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities are likely to be involved in the mechanism underlying the radioprotective effects of DEX. After further studies, DEX might be used as a hepatoprotective treatment regimen before administering radioactive iodine therapy particularly in patients with hepatic disease.
- Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication: Analysis of 162 patients. [Journal Article]Int Surg. 2016 Mar 23. [Online ahead of print]IS
- CONCLUSIONS: PPI treatment alone during the postoperative period does not indicate recurrence. One of the most important reasons for recurrence is antral gastritis secondary to HP infection; PPI usage diminishes remarkably with an HP eradication protocol. MII-pH monitoring is an effective method of determining recurrences due to reflux and their types in postoperative symptomatic patients.
- IS SAME-DAY INGUINAL HERNIA SURGERY POSSIBLE? [Journal Article]Int Surg. 2016 Mar 23. [Online ahead of print]IS
- 1-INTRODUCTION: The Lichtenstein hernia repair is associated with low recurrence rates and short operation times, and can be performed under local anaesthesia. Thus, this is among the most-preferred methods used in recent years. Our objective was to explore the same-day discharge rates, and the causes of delayed discharge and re-admission to hospital, of patients treated using the Lichtenstein re…
- The Efficacy of Intraoperative Single Dose Methylprednisolone on Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Function After Thyroidectomy. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The presented data indicates that a single intraoperative dose of steroid does not seem to effect the rate and recovery period of RLNP in thyroid surgery.
- The effect of phenol concentration on the treatment of pilonidal sinus disease: Early results of a prospective randomized study. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: The low concentrations of phenol did not achieve faster recovery, faster return to work, or less complications in the treatment of pilonidal disease. An 80% concentration of phenol should be used for a higher rate of recovery.
- Transvaginal Laparoscopically Assisted Endoscopic Appendectomy: a major Hybrid Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery case series in Asia. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Hybrid NOTES procedures can be performed safely using a solo-umbilical trocar. Our initial experience reveals that this hybrid technique is practically feasible and associated with minimal post-operative pain, reasonable convalescence time, and improved cosmetic outcomes.
- Strangulated lesser omentum hiatus hernia: a rare case report and a literature review. [Journal Article]
- Intestinal obstruction caused by primary intraperitoneal hernia is infrequent and difficult to diagnose. Incorrect diagnosis and delayed surgical treatment will lead to serious consequences. We report a rare case of a 62-year-old Chinese woman with strangulated lesser omentum hiatus hernia. Contrast-enhanced abdominal computed tomography(CT) scan is recommended for early revealing direct and indi…
- Midterm Results Following Percutaneous Rotational Thrombectomy for Acute Thrombotic Occlusions of Prosthetic Arteriovenous Access Grafts. [Journal Article]Int Surg. 2015 Jul; 100(7-8):1249-54.IS
- Patent vascular access is critical for patients on regular hemodialysis. Prosthetic grafts are good alternatives when the superficial venous system is of poor quality. However, thrombosis is one of the main drawbacks of synthetic grafts, with reports of 59% to 90% patency rates for 1 year. In cases of thrombotic occlusion of prosthetic arteriovenous fistula grafts, percutaneous mechanical thrombe…

- Giant Splenic Artery Pseudoaneurysm: A Case Report and Literature Review. [Case Reports]
- Splenic artery aneurysms (SAAs) are the third most frequent intra-abdominal aneurysm, following abdominal aorta and iliac artery aneurysms. SAAs are classified according to their involvement of arterial wall layers: true aneurysms involve all 3 layers (intima, media, and adventitia), and pseudoaneurysms involve only one or two. Herein we present a new case of giant pseudo SAA. A 65-year-old femal…
