- Protective Effect of Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide on Corneal Epithelial Barrier in Experimental Dry Eye Models. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):65.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: CGRP deficiency and receptor upregulation may be involved in the pathological process of DED. Exogenous CGRP ameliorates corneal barrier dysfunction, which is associated with modulation of the PKA/CREB and NF-κB pathways.

- Abnormal Binocular Rivalry Dynamics in Amblyopia: A Potential Diagnostic Marker. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):66.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: Binocular rivalry dynamics are fundamentally altered in amblyopia, revealing disrupted reversal mechanisms. These dynamics distinguish amblyopia from normal vision and differentiate between etiologies. The perfect separation achieved suggests that quantifying rivalry dynamics holds significant potential as a rapid noninvasive diagnostic tool.

- Machine Learning-Based Cytokine Endotyping of Thyroid Eye Disease. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):67.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: Using machine learning, we identified a four-cytokine signature that robustly stratifies TED patients into four immunologically and clinically distinct endotypes. The CKC scoring model, derived from this signature, enables the accurate and reproducible prediction of endotype membership.

- Subtype-Specific Macular Microvascular Changes in Accommodative Esotropia Assessed by Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):68.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: Children with AE exhibit significant, layer-specific microvascular alterations predominantly confined to the superior quadrant, with distinct patterns across AE subtypes. After FDR correction, CC findings in high AC/A ratio and partially accommodative subtypes, and OR findings in high AC/A ratio subtypes, remained significant. These findings suggest that chronic accommodative effort and convergence stimulation may influence retinal microvasculature, providing new insights into the pathophysiology of AE.

- Structure-Based Network Analysis of AlphaFold Structure Predictions Identifies Putative Causative Variants of Inherited Retinal Disease. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):60.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: SBNA can identify variants in human proteins that are likely to cause disease, and it can help predict variants causative of IRDs in an unbiased fashion using both AlphaFold2-generated structural models and experimental structural data.

- Influence of Refractive Index of the Crystalline Lens on Optical Biometric Measurements for Cataract Patients. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):61.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: The Scheimpflug imaging-equipped whole-eye OCT system provides a useful technique to measure AL and LT with the NLens determined for the cataract eye in vivo. The NLens varies substantially from individual eye to individual eye among the patients with cataract, and plays a critical role for deriving accurate AL and LT measurements. During cataract surgery the accurate AL and LT measurements should be used for IOL power calculation.

- Orientation-Specific Inhibitory Plasticity in Binocular Rivalry. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):64.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that rivalry-induced plasticity may arise from orientation-specific weakening of interocular suppression, mediated by anti-Hebbian plasticity at inhibitory synapses. This work provides a mechanistic framework for understanding experience-dependent short-term binocular plasticity in the adult visual system.

- From Subretinal to Intraretinal Fluid in Type 1 Macular Neovascularization: A Clinicopathologic Disease Transition Model. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):57.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: In type 1 MNV, the shift to IRF-dominant exudation may reflect a structural disease state transition in which ELM disruption, Müller cell remodeling, and altered AQP4-mediated fluid transport are contributing mechanisms. These findings provide a possible clinicopathologic framework for developing outer retina-preserving therapeutic strategies in nAMD.

- Nicotinamide Mononucleotide Attenuates Inflammatory Activation, Choroidal Neovascularization, and Lesion-Associated Remodeling. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):59.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that NMN reduces inflammatory signaling and alleviates the inflammatory microenvironment in CNV, accompanied by decreased angiogenesis-related gene expression and fibrosis-related remodeling. By attenuating inflammatory activation and tissue remodeling processes, NMN warrants further evaluation as an adjunctive approach to limit CNV progression and late-stage tissue remodeling in nAMD.

- How "Micro" Is Microperimetry? Characterizing the Effect of Fundus Tracking on the Psychometric Function. [Journal Article]Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci. 2026 Aug 03; 67(10):55.IO
- CONCLUSIONS: Even in healthy volunteers with stable fixation, fundus tracking measurably lowered apparent sensitivity at "non-seeing" loci (i.e., reduced spurious responses inside the blind spot) and steepened FoS curves in the "seeing" retina. A criterion intensity in the range of 10 to 16 dB is a defensible choice for separating "seeing" and "non-seeing" retina in suprathreshold (defect-mapping) perimetry paradigms.

- Integrin-Linked Kinase Suppression Reduces SPARC's Effect on Intraocular Pressure and Extracellular Matrix. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: ILK inhibition attenuated the effects of SPARC overexpression on IOP and ECM proteins, suggesting ILK signaling may contribute to the pathway of SPARC-mediated regulation of ECM homeostasis in TM. Future studies evaluating the downstream transcription factors may provide an elucidated pathway for POAG pathogenesis.
