  • Improved Visualization of Heart Valves With 4D-CT Using a Novel Motion Correction Algorithm. [Journal Article]
Invest Radiol. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]Zedler D, Demmert TT, … Alkadhi HIR
  • CONCLUSIONS: A novel motion correction algorithm substantially reduced motion artifacts and improved image quality in both native and prosthetic heart valve imaging with PCD-CT, with the largest improvements in systole. These benefits resulted in enhanced visualization of valvular pathology, potentially reinforcing the growing clinical role of cardiac CT for the assessment of valve disease.
  • Spectral Black-Blood Photon-Counting CT for High-Resolution Carotid Vessel Wall Imaging: A Feasibility Study. [Journal Article]
Invest Radiol. 2026 Aug 18. [Online ahead of print]Tóth A, Hagar MT, … Spampinato MVIR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Spectral BBCT was feasible for high-resolution carotid vessel wall imaging, with preserved overall image quality, improved wall-lumen delineation, and higher plaque conspicuity compared with conventional CTA. Improved agreement for selected plaque features supports its potential as a complementary vessel wall reconstruction; however, possible subtraction-related sensitivity loss suggests BBCT should be interpreted in conjunction with conventional CTA rather than as a standalone reconstruction.
  • Perception‑based, Nonuniform Color Mapping for CT Reading. [Journal Article]
Invest Radiol. 2026 Aug 04. [Online ahead of print]Landolt AW, Euler A, … Kubik-Huch RAIR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Unlike uniform color mappings, the proposed approach uses nonuniform color ranges to better match human perception. In CT, this may facilitate visual separation of tissues and structures and was preferred in phantom‑based visual assessment compared with standard uniform display methods.
  • Accelerated 7T 3D DESS MR Neurography of the Cervical Spine Using CS-CAIPIRINHA and Deep Learning Reconstruction. [Journal Article]
Invest Radiol. 2026 Jul 24. [Online ahead of print]Abel F, von Deuster C, … Sutter RIR
  • CONCLUSIONS: Coherent CAIPIRINHA undersampling with DL reconstruction improves image quality over conventional GRAPPA while enabling 50% faster imaging in 7T cervical spine MRI. Adding incoherent CS undersampling permits substantially higher acceleration with preserved image quality and fewer reconstruction artifacts. The novel integration of coherent and incoherent undersampling via combined CAIPIRINHA and CS with DL reconstruction provides a robust framework for preserving image quality at acceleration factors beyond 8, enabling efficient high-resolution cervical spine MRI with scan time reductions exceeding 6-fold.
