- From Screening to Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer: A Comprehensive Review. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Despite advances in first-line and second-line therapies for APC, median OS remains short of a year. We need collaborative efforts between the cooperative groups, institutions, community practices and industry to work together in enrolling these patients in clinical trials. In addition to use new technologies, such as organoids, we must pay attention to the palliative aspect of care for these patients from the beginning including nutritionist, social worker and supportive care health providers to assist with goals of care, symptom management and end of life discussions.

- Is There any Survival Benefit of Maintenance Chemotherapy Following Adjuvant Chemotherapy in Patients with Resected Pancreatic Cancer Patients with Post-Surgery Elevated CA 19-9? [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: We believe that the longer overall survival of our patients with elevated CA 19-9 post-surgery was due to maintenance and additional chemotherapy following planned 6-months of adjuvant therapy, close monitoring with monthly CA 19-9 and 3-monthly computed tomography scans. Our study also underlines importance of collecting pre-surgery CA 19-9 and complete staging including chest. Prospective study aiming to evaluate role of maintenance or intensified chemotherapy or targeted agents are indicated.

- Oncologic Implications of Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection. [Journal Article]
- Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection increases the risk for several types of cancer, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, as primary and second primary malignancies. HCV-infected patients with cancer, particularly those undergoing anticancer therapy, are at risk for development of enhanced HCV replication, which can lead to hepatitis flare and progression…

- Atrial Fibrillation and Stroke Risk in Patients With Cancer: A Primer for Oncologists. [Review]
- Cancer and atrial fibrillation (AF) are common conditions, but for patients affected with both, there is a lack of data about management of anticoagulation and cerebrovascular outcomes. In the first section of this review, we summarize the most relevant studies on stroke risk and management of AF in patients with active cancer, attempting to answer questions of whether to anticoagulate, whom to a…

- Nationwide Survey of Patients' Perspectives Regarding Their Radiation and Multidisciplinary Cancer Treatment Experiences. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that experiences with radiation adverse effects generally are congruent with expectations. Nevertheless, improvement of pretreatment counseling across all cancer therapy modalities seems warranted to improve informed decision making and treatment experiences.

- Management of Brain Metastases in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer. [Review]
- Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. Approximately 20% of these patients present with brain metastases (BMs). Surgical resection, stereotactic radiosurgery, and whole-brain radiation therapy have historically been the primary treatment modalities for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and BMs. The treatments for BMs have become complex with …
