  • Serum versus lithium-heparin plasma for lipid testing: matrix-related bias and calculated LDL-C classification. [Journal Article]
    J Clin Pathol. 2026 Jul 30. [Online ahead of print]Kouched N, Jmal L, … Jmal AJC
  • CONCLUSIONS: Under these local analytical and pre-analytical conditions, the mean bias was modest but directional and sufficient to alter calculated LDL-C classification in a minority of samples near decision thresholds. Laboratories using lithium-heparin plasma for lipid testing should verify matrix agreement locally, document the specimen matrix and avoid alternating serum and plasma during longitudinal monitoring unless equivalence has been demonstrated.
  • Promise and pragmatism of AI in global-scale digital pathology: pan-cancer approaches for clinical practice. [Review]
    J Clin Pathol. 2026 Aug 20; 79(9):577-586.Coupland SE, Rao A, … Naresh KNJC
  • Artificial intelligence (AI) tools for digital pathology have crossed the threshold from pilot project to clinical deployment, with regulatory approvals, commercial products and prospective trials now accumulating across multiple tumour types. However, global-scale implementation demands careful evaluation of both opportunities and challenges. Traditional histopathology faces mounting pressures i…
