  • A Mixed-Methods Evaluation of a Dietetic Outcome Measure Tool Pilot in a Community Eating Disorder Service. [Journal Article]
    J Hum Nutr Diet. 2026 Oct; 39(5):e70346.Sloan S, Sadler J, Woods SJH
  • CONCLUSIONS: Participants were supportive of routine outcome monitoring in principle. However, the absence of clearly defined outcome indicators and associated data limited the tool's ability to meaningfully evaluate the intervention's effectiveness. Improved integration within existing electronic systems, combined with clearer outcome indicators and complementary qualitative approaches, may reduce clinician burden while enhancing the feasibility, acceptability, and value of routine outcome monitoring within ED dietetic services.
  • Under-Identification of Malnutrition Within an Inpatient Hospital Setting. [Journal Article]
    J Hum Nutr Diet. 2026 Oct; 39(5):e70338.Bailey J, Baird J, … Desneves KJJH
  • CONCLUSIONS: This study examining the alignment between real-world screening practices and institutional guidelines for patients at risk of malnutrition identified clear gaps in the timely and accurate completion of MST screening and weight documentation. A multitude of factors likely influence this including nursing staff capacity, flawed design of EMR systems, and suboptimal protocol sequencing. Future research applying systems-level thinking is required.
  • Dietary Pattern and Risk of Thyroid Cancer: A Systematic Review. [Systematic Review]
J Hum Nutr Diet. 2026 Aug; 39(4):e70337.Nagashima YG, Soares AA, … Lopes MMGDJH
  • CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review suggests that dietary patterns may be associated with TC risk. Although healthier dietary patterns tended to be associated with a lower risk and pro-inflammatory or Western-style dietary patterns with a higher risk, the current evidence remains observational and heterogeneous. Further prospective studies are needed to clarify the biological mechanisms underlying these associations.
