  • CONCLUSIONS: EMM-related diplopia is often indicative of skull-base or orbital involvement in patients with advanced myeloma. Although radiation frequently improves or resolves diplopia, survival following symptom onset remains limited (median 15 months), notably shorter than that observed in general relapsed/refractory myeloma. EMM-related diplopia serves as a high-risk clinical marker that necessitating urgent neuroimaging and multidisciplinary management.
  • Use of a Virtual Reality Visual Field Device to Improve Quality of Care in the Emergency Department and Inpatient Setting. [Journal Article]

  • CONCLUSIONS: In our experience, use of the VVF has improved the quality of care for inpatients with neuro-ophthalmic conditions. A significant impact of the VVF was increased safety by preventing the need to transport patients to the outpatient setting for visual field monitoring, especially patients with vision-threatening papilledema and lumbar drains. The VVF made formal visual testing available to patients with mobility restrictions and patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures. Owing to improvement in quality of patient care, the VVF analyzer has become a mainstay of the examination of patients in the ED and hospital.
