- Brief Report: Patterns of Disease Progression with Durvalumab versus Placebo After Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy for Limited-Stage SCLC in the Phase 3 ADRIATIC Trial. [Journal Article]J Thorac Oncol. 2026 Nov 02; :106221. [Online ahead of print]JT
- CONCLUSIONS: The lower rate of extrathoracic progression and prolonged time to progression or death for intrathoracic and extrathoracic (including brain) lesions observed with durvalumab versus placebo further support consolidation durvalumab as the new standard-of-care treatment for patients with LS-SCLC without progression after cCRT.

- Brief report: Clinical and Functional Characterization of Rare Germline and Somatic EGFR Variants in Three Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. [Journal Article]J Thorac Oncol. 2026 Oct 30; :106222. [Online ahead of print]JT
- To date hereditary risk factors for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are poorly understood. While most cases are considered sporadic, rare monogenic germline alterations in EGFR and TP53 have been reported to be associated with increased risk of NSCLC. While identification and accurate functional characterization of such variants are essential for improving risk assessment and personalized ther…

- Amivantamab-Induced Capillary Leak Syndrome Successfully Treated With Intravenous Immunoglobulin Administration: Case Report. [Case Reports]J Thorac Oncol. 2026 Oct 29; :106136. [Online ahead of print]JT
- Capillary leak syndrome (CLS) is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition characterized by generalized edema, hypotension, and hypoalbuminemia. Amivantamab has recently been approved for the management of metastatic NSCLC. Although peripheral edema has been reported with amivantamab, CLS has not previously been described in association with this treatment. Herein, we report a case of CLS…

- Brief Report: Characterization of the Potentially Actionable TP53 Y220C Mutation in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. A Multicenter, European Thoracic Oncology Platform Study. [Journal Article]J Thorac Oncol. 2026 Oct 20; :106162. [Online ahead of print]JT
- CONCLUSIONS: The TP53 Y220C has a frequency similar to other low abundance, actionable alterations in NSCLC. Patients with NSCLC should be screened and included in future trials of Y220C reactivators. Co-mutations in TP53 should also be analyzed, since they might be associated with intrinsic resistance.

- In its 20-year history, the Journal of Thoracic Oncology (JTO) has published many major articles that have had a profound impact on the pathology of thoracic malignancies. One reason JTO has had such a great influence on thoracic oncology is the visionary leadership of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), which emphasizes an international, multidisciplinary approach…
