- Trabeculectomy versus Transscleral Cyclophotocoagulation as a Primary Surgical Procedure in Glaucoma: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Both procedures reduced IOP at 12 months as primary glaucoma surgeries. TRAB achieved lower final IOP, required fewer medications, and was associated with improved quality of life, whereas CPC required more adjunctive medication and retreatment in some eyes.

- Evaluation and Comparison of Large Language Models in Answering Frequently Asked Patient Questions on Glaucoma. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 12. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: ChatGPT-o1 and DeepSeek-R1 responses were comparable, demonstrating notable limitations in accuracy. Reading levels similarly exceeded average U.S. adult literacy, posing challenges for patient comprehension. Rigorous oversight and targeted refinement of LLMs is necessary to enhance the reliability and accessibility of content for patient education in glaucoma.

- Outcome of Secondary Glaucoma in Eyes With Uveal Melanoma A Population-Based Analysis. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 08. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Most uveal melanoma eyes with secondary glaucoma and useful vision potential become normotensive with medication and cyclophotocoagulation and retain ≥20/400 vision. Most with less visual potential become pain-free without intensive medication and avoid enucleation.

- Performance of 24-2C Visual Field Grid in Detecting Central Glaucomatous Defects: A Comparative Study with Microperimetry. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: 24-2C VF grid has a potential complementary role in glaucoma assessment for detecting central VF defects in glaucoma patients. Its structure-function correlation supports its use as a promising tool in routine clinical practice.

- Comparison of Early Outcomes of PreserFlo MicroShunt, Ex-PRESS, and Trabeculectomy in Primary Open-angle Glaucoma. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: PFM demonstrated short-term outcomes broadly comparable to EXP and TLE, with a lower postoperative intervention burden. Longer-term prospective studies are needed.

- Comparison of Intraocular Pressure Measurements Using iCare Rebound Tonometry and Goldmann Applanation Tonometry: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: iCare tonometry had lower readings than GAT on average, but high heterogeneity and wide limits of agreement suggest that measurements are not directly interchangeable across clinical settings or individual patients.

- Comparison of Anxiety Levels in Glaucoma Patients Undergoing Standard Automated Perimetry and Online Circular Contrast Perimetry. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Sep 28. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: OCCP is associated with slightly lower anxiety while demonstrating comparable test duration. These findings support its potential as a slightly more tolerable, accessible and cost-effective alternative for monitoring and screening for glaucoma.

- Outcomes and Anatomical Predictors of Failure of Repeat Angle Surgery After Failed Initial Surgery for Primary Congenital Glaucoma. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Sep 28. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Repeat angle surgery is an effective option after failed primary surgery in PCG, particularly in eyes with identifiable angle pathology. Early failure despite a patent trabeculotomy incision may suggest resistance beyond the trabecular meshwork and may predict limited response to further angle-based procedures. Careful anatomical assessment may help guide selection of repeat angle surgery versus alternative surgical approaches in these cases.

- Intraocular Pressure Fluctuation Before and After Phacoemulsification in Eyes With Open-Angle Glaucoma. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Phacoemulsification decreased mean IOP and SD in the entire cohort, but medication changes before and after surgery significantly influenced IOP SD and CoV. This should be considered in future studies of long-term IOP fluctuation in glaucoma patients.

- Twelve-Month Outcomes of Direct Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty According to Treatment Indication. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Oct 07. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Direct selective laser trabeculoplasty was associated with IOP reduction in treatment-naïve and medically uncontrolled eyes. In eyes treated for medication reduction, DSLT reduced medication burden while maintaining IOP control. These findings suggest that DSLT may serve different treatment objectives in glaucoma management. Larger prospective studies are needed to establish its long-term effectiveness and safety.

- Association of Severe Tooth Loss With Ganglion Cell Layer Thickness and Glaucoma Prevalence: A Population-Based Study. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Sep 28. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Severe tooth loss is significantly associated with structural thinning of GCIPL and an increased prevalence of glaucoma. Oral health status may serve as a potential associative relationship linked to structural changes in the eye.

- Early Ripcord Removal and Short-Term Surgical Outcomes After A-stream Shunt Implantation in Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Sep 28. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: Eyes requiring early intraluminal ripcord removal after A-stream implantation underwent more postoperative interventions and achieved lower short-term complete success. Early ripcord removal may serve as a clinical marker of an unfavorable postoperative course.

- Relationship of Neighborhood Socioeconomic Deprivation with Glaucoma Severity and Medication Adherence in Veterans. [Journal Article]J Glaucoma. 2026 Sep 07. [Online ahead of print]JG
- CONCLUSIONS: In this veteran cohort, neighborhood socioeconomic deprivation was not associated with glaucoma severity or medication adherence. These findings suggest that the integrated Veterans Health Administration system may help mitigate socioeconomic barriers in glaucoma care. Larger multicenter studies are recommended to clarify how neighborhood deprivation and health system structure influence glaucoma outcomes.
