- Efforts to sustain post-kala-azar elimination in India: surveillance, mortality monitoring, and housing support under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Sep 10. [Online ahead of print]JV
- India is nearing formal validation for elimination of kala-azar as a public health problem, contingent upon sustaining the elimination threshold for three consecutive years. As incidence declines, the post-elimination phase demands sustained vigilance beyond case counts alone. Residual transmission and preventable mortality may remain undetected, particularly in settings affected by poverty, poor…

- Epidemiological Trends, Serotypic Distribution, and Forecasted Burden of Dengue in India (2010-2023): A Comprehensive Secondary Data Analysis. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Sep 10. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: GBD-based age-standardised incidence rose at an average annual percent change (AAPC) of 1.39% (95% CI: 1.34-1.44) and mortality at 1.65% (95% CI: 1.23-2.08) over 1990-2021. Pooled seroprevalence was 56.9% nationally (Ganeshkumar et al . [5]) and 81% in an urban Pune cohort (Mishra et al . [18]). DENV-2 was dominant nationally (45% in western UP). Synthesised ARIMA models project 309,836 cases (95% CI: 240,337-379,334) by 2026.

- Managing Malaria outbreak in a village nested in tea garden of Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal, India 2023-2024. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Aug 28. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: We investigated a P. vivax outbreak in a village nested in tea garden linked with behavioural factors. Interpersonal communication of risk factors to the villagers, early diagnosis through active case search, complete treatment and integrated vector management help controlled the outbreak. The outbreak was managed with reactive surveillance, case management, vector control measures along with interpersonal risk factor communication with villagers.

- Temephos susceptibility assay against Culex quinquefasciatus larvae in Odisha, India. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Aug 21. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: After 24 hours of treatment with the WHO-recommended diagnostic dose of 0.02 ppm of temephos, the mortality rate was found to be 58.7%, which was significantly below the anticipated 98% susceptibility of the mosquitoes, indicating resistance to this insecticide. Therefore, temephos insecticide resistance should be monitored at regular intervals for mosquito vector control management.

- Global Status of Insecticide Resistance in Malaria Vectors: A Comprehensive Review. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Aug 21. [Online ahead of print]JV
- Insecticidal Residual Spray (IRS) is a long-standing preventive measure in Mosquito vector control. The widespread use of insecticides for malaria vector control has led to increasing resistance in malaria vectors, creating a major global challenge. This article addresses the current situation and geographical patterns of pesticide resistance, as well as the consequences for global malaria contro…

- Emerging Dual infection: A retrospective study on Scrub typhus and Leptospirosis Prevalence and Co-infection in the hilly region of Himachal Pradesh in North India. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Jul 29. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study highlighted the critical importance of strengthening awareness, improving early diagnostic efforts, and ensuring prompt interventions-particularly during the seasonal peaks. Special attention should be given to cases involving co-infection, as they pose greater challenges in clinical management.

- A ten-year retrospective review of antimalarial-induced dystonia at Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Jul 29. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: The AA combination is the most common antimalarial associated with AID. Presumptive malaria treatment and non-pharmaceutical dispensations should be discouraged. Recommended doses of AA should be weight based in order to prevent over-dosage and AID.

- Predictors of mortality in scrub typhus fever: A cross-sectional study from central India. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Jul 01; 63(3):396-401.JV
- CONCLUSIONS: Scrub typhus remains a significant cause of mortality, especially in rural and resource-limited areas. Patients presenting with severe symptoms and abnormal laboratory markers are at higher risk of poor outcomes. Early recognition of these high-risk features by healthcare providers is critical. Prompt and targeted management can significantly improve survival rates.

- Preliminary molecular characterisation of Orientia tsutsugamushi genotypes in scrub typhus patients from Thiruvarur district, Tamil Nadu. [Journal Article]J Vector Borne Dis. 2026 Jul 29. [Online ahead of print]JV
- CONCLUSIONS: This study provides preliminary evidence that the strains of Orientia tsutsugamushi circulating in the Thiruvarur district are closely related to Karp and Kato related genotypes. Although sequenceable amplicons were obtained from only a limited number of samples, the findings add to the emerging molecular epidemiological data on scrub typhus in Tamil Nadu. Larger studies integrating molecular findings with clinical and epidemiological data are needed to better define strain diversity in endemic settings.
