- Fatal Occupational Leptospirosis in a Beef Cattle Farmer: Case Report and Epidemiological Investigation. [Case Reports]Med Lav. 2026 Oct 23; 117(5):19203.ML
- Leptospirosis is a re-emerging zoonosis responsible for approximately 1 million human infections and 59,000 deaths annually worldwide. In Europe, notification rates have increased by 5% per year since 2010, a trend compounded by climate change. The study was performed to document a fatal occupational case acquired through an under-recognised environmental exposure pathway, and to establish what r…

- Postural Stability and Perceived Control in Functional Performance During Occupational Precision Sewing. [Journal Article]Med Lav. 2026 Oct 23; 117(5):18639.ML
- CONCLUSIONS: Working posture influenced functional performance primarily through stability and perceived control mechanisms. Sustained standing during precision work may increase musculoskeletal risk and compromise task accuracy. Well-adjusted seated workstations should be prioritized for occupational precision sewing tasks. Posture alternation strategies should be carefully managed to balance musculoskeletal load and performance quality.

- Supporting Ergonomic Risk Assessment: An AI-driven Approach for Action Recognition Using Standard Video Recordings. [Journal Article]Med Lav. 2026 Oct 23; 117(5):18921.ML
- CONCLUSIONS: This work demonstrates the technical feasibility of AI-driven, markerless motion capture systems for digitalizing musculoskeletal disorder risk assessment in real-world occupational settings. The principal innovation is the successful implementation of action recognition from standard video recordings captured in uncontrolled manufacturing environments, which transcends spatial constraints and eliminates the need for specialized sensing equipment. Despite current limitations in dataset size and classification accuracy, this study lays a foundation for developing deployable platforms to support real-time ergonomic assessment and proactive prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

- Interstitial Lung Disease in a Dental Technician Diagnosed Through an Integrated Multidisciplinary Approach. [Case Reports]
- Evidence from the literature indicates that workers in the dental care sector are routinely exposed to hazardous airborne agents, particularly mineral and metal dusts. This occupational risk is further amplified in settings with inadequate ventilation and insufficient use of personal protective equipment. We discuss the case of a dental technician with a significant history of occupational exposu…

- Sleep Quality and Physiological Stress in Emergency Physicians During 24‑Hour Shifts: A Wearable‑Based Occupational Health Assessment. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: Shift work in emergency medicine is associated with impaired sleep quality and increased physiological stress. Professional experience appears to mitigate stress responses but does not fully restore sleep quality. These findings support the need for targeted occupational strategies, including optimized workload distribution and structured support for early-career physicians, to improve well-being and ensure patient safety in high-intensity clinical environments.

- The Impact of Robotization on Employees' Mental and Physical Health: A Qualitative Study in the Czech and Slovak Republics. [Journal Article]
- CONCLUSIONS: When the implementation process is well designed, robotization does not necessarily negatively affect employees' mental health. The findings highlight the importance of actively addressing organizational and human factors that influence the success of technological change in the workplace. Attention should focus on monitoring cognitive and psychological demands, particularly for technical and managerial staff.

- Bridging Two Gaps: A Roadmap for Collaboration Between Occupational Physicians and General Practitioners. [Journal Article]
- Occupational physicians (OPs) and general practitioners (GPs) manage overlapping aspects of the same patient's health yet rarely communicate with one another. By assigning OPs a role in promoting cancer screening, Law 198/2025 has created in Italy a regulatory link between occupational surveillance and public health prevention-a link that cannot function without a structured exchange of data betw…
