- Mechanistic Insights into the Analgesic Action of Acetaminophen: Its Bioactive Metabolite Induces Peripheral Analgesia in Addition to Central Analgesia. [Review]Med Princ Pract. 2026 Aug 17; :1. [Online ahead of print]MP
- The molecular target and detailed mechanism of analgesic acetaminophen are still not fully understood despite being commonly used for many years. Through a literature search, the present study aimed to characterize the cyclooxygenase inhibitory properties of acetaminophen in comparison with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and to gain novel mechanistic insights into its analgesic action, esp…

- AQP5 and NRF2 Upregulation in Tumor and Stroma is Associated with Poor Pathological Complete Response to Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer. [Journal Article]Med Princ Pract. 2026 Aug 10; :1. [Online ahead of print]MP
- CONCLUSIONS: Chemotherapy is associated with increased AQP5 expression and NRF2 nuclear translocation within both tumor cells and stroma. These post-therapy molecular changes are significantly associated with a lack of pathological complete response, suggesting that AQP5 and NRF2 may be involved in resistance to chemotherapy in HER2-positive and TNBC.

- Correlations of Free Beta Human Chorionic Gonadotropin/Pregnancy-Associated Plasma Protein A Ratio, Pregnancy Characteristics and Placental Pathology in Fetal Growth Restriction. [Journal Article]Med Princ Pract. 2026 Aug 10; :1. [Online ahead of print]MP
- CONCLUSIONS: In FGR, higher FBHCG/PAPP-A ratio could be an early indicator of placental villous underdevelopment, which is further supported by the fact that higher prevalence of distal villous hypoplasia and avascular villi was described in cases with higher FBHCG/PAPP-A ratio. We conclude that this ratio could be an early marker of potential placental dysfunction (and consecutive FGR later in pregnancy), rendering a helpful marker as early as the end of the first trimester for identifying pregnancies that warrant close monitoring throughout gestation.

- Lactate, Carbohydrate Restriction and Cancer Metabolism. [Review]Med Princ Pract. 2026 Aug 03; :1. [Online ahead of print]MP
- Carbohydrate restriction has been proposed as an adjunctive strategy in cancer, largely because many tumours show high glucose uptake. Clinical evidence for benefit remains limited, mixed and often overstated. Lactate is now recognised as more than a metabolic by-product: it influences redox balance, tumour-stromal signalling, immune suppression, angiogenesis, epigenetic regulation and metastatic…

- CONCLUSIONS: In this single-center cohort, testicular histopathology varied significantly with age and clinical presentation. These findings support age-stratified counseling while emphasizing that the retrospective design and small subgroup sizes limit causal inference.

- Integrating Fetuin-A and Lipid-Based Phenotyping as Markers of Cardiometabolic Risk in Subclinical Hypothyroidism. [Journal Article]Med Princ Pract. 2026 Jul 09; :1-11. [Online ahead of print]MP
- CONCLUSIONS: FA is a promising integrative biomarker linking thyroid dysfunction with cardiometabolic risk in SCH. Lipid-based phenotyping highlights disease heterogeneity and supports the use of composite biomarker strategies for early risk stratification and personalized management.

- Postpartum thyroiditis (PPT) is a common autoimmune sequela of pregnancy, affecting 5-10% of women, a considerable percentage of whom ultimately develop lifelong hypothyroidism. The disorder's characteristic symptoms, such as debilitating tiredness and cognitive impairment, are frequently misattributed to the routine challenges of new parenthood, leading to delayed diagnosis and adverse effects o…
